If you dont think the new FFP rules have additional impacts on transfer activity that's up to you. but it surprises me. I do and have explained why.
I don't really feel the need to make you see it my way tbh.

Yeah because Sullivan is a failed businessman who doesn't have a clue how to make deals and must have amassed his fortune through sheer luck.hammerman11 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 9:34 am true and lets hope they dont rip us off with the fee. cant say I have much confidence with sullivan involved !
Rice won't go for Grealish money. I don't see anyone spending that on him. Arsenal will take the lad at Brighton over Rice.
Chelsea might want him? Nobody else is going to pay that money for him.

Even with their little changes to stop Chelsea making a complete farce of it, it'll be much the same.
They'll find a way round it.

Re: Declan Rice
OK but what about.
Old Rules:
We sell a player for £100m in the summer.
That money could be spent now.
Or say £20m then and £80m in Jan.
New rules.
If we do the same thing the £80m is allocated to a different year. (FFP is calendar year).
So unless you bring in loads of money you are in breach.
Even though the actual accounts in your club look the same.
So you might decide its better to get paid in installments rather lump sum.
So it is 100% a new consideration imo.
Whether team a way round ok.
But I'd hope the club don't dismiss it as horse ****

Re: Declan Rice
Had not clocked this before - what possible logic is there for FFP being calendar year rather than the football season???El brooko79 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 11:42 am New rules.

Surely that has the potential to cause all sorts of problems just because clubs have been promoted/relegated, TV deals have changed, competing in Europe in one year but not the next, changes in sponsorship deals, etc, etc.?

No idea tbh. Rarely does anything seem logical with these rules.StevePottsGoalsReel wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 12:34 pm Had not clocked this before - what possible logic is there for FFP being calendar year rather than the football season???

And as SJ suggests it's invariably the poorer clubs that loose out as the big clubs find loop holes.
Leicester had to have a fire sale in the summer almost and let their keeper go for nothing to get his wages off.
These rules should be stopping Chelsea/Man City from taking the piss not punishing the lesser.
You almost want transfer income to be staggered so you know where you stand.

Re: Declan Rice
If we have any forward thinking or planning, we will already have drawn up a list of our summer signings regardless of what league we will be in and will be looking to get most signed up before we sell Rice.fjthegrey wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 10:10 am It really isn't important how much we get for him. Nowhere near as important as people are making out.
The bigger the fee, the more our next 4-5 signings cost. Everyone will know we are relatively cash rich and there'll be a premium on everyone we express interest in.
His direct replacement should also not cost an exorbitant amount. Trying to replace him like for like is utterly futile and we'll just end up overpaying for someone if we go that route. Gotta be smarter about it.
Ok, as we were…!

English football sacrificed the beauty of a potential salary cap and a league of parity in order to keep the gravy train going and make sure we have the best players.

Re: Declan Rice
That isn't news, it's just Fabrizio Romano stating the same thing that comes up periodically for years now. I resent it for the emotional reactions it provokes out of our fans and that I will likely now have to read a day or two of demands for the armband to be taken off the Judas etc.

Re: Declan Rice
I think the press already knows this lad's next club.
There's a piece in today's paper that assesses which of a range of potentials, which includes Bellingham, Liverpool will make picks to revitalise their aging midfield.
No sign of Declanbauer.

Not really a great response from declan here, saying to souness that he doesn’t watch him week in week out at west ham. Well if he did tbh his impression of declan would probably be the same.
