I haven't seen the interview myself, I've only read the reaction from it, pretty mixed really from what I've read.

You do seem to be taking it very personally and overreacting somewhatHugh Jargon wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 3:24 pm It was an awful interview. Totally unnecessary and disrespectful to the club.

I can only assume you happy clappers are a tad lacking in emotional intelligence.
Because some don't agree on your take of the interview

Re: Declan Rice
My tuppence worth on this subject is as follows:
Now I've supported this great club of ours for coming up to 58 yrs and seen most of our excellent young talent get sold due to their own or
agents doing as well as the club cashing in on them.
Ince, Cottee, Dickens, Rio, Lampard, Kanoute, Cole, Carrick, Defoe and on it goes and will continue to do so and yes I have more than lightly
forgotten a few from the 70's and early 80's christ even the great Bobby Moore wanted out to the Spuds before the World Cup in 66.
I used to get the right hump with the club and player involved but now unfortunately I've come to expect and accept it.
What chance have we got when Rice has not only his international mates in his ear we now here from people like Danny Murphy also getting in
Declan's and his dad's ear telling him he's gotta move this summer.
Maybe my opinion is not as valid as some on here that pay their money and go along to the bowl as I stopped attending when the dildos moved
us but I will end this with a get used to it to those who are younger and full of anticipation for success because unfortunately the past 2 seasons
could be your 1975,1980 and 1986.
All the Best and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year .

Re: Declan Rice
He's not signing a new contract. Sell him in the summer for money is good business sense. Or keep him and he goes for free.
So errr sell him.

Re: Declan Rice
Or keep him if a suitable offer hasn't materialised and still be able to sell him for big money at a later date. We really don't have to sell him this summer at all, if the Clubs asking price isn't met.

Re: Declan Rice
I think his value goes down in the last year of his contract, seems to be the way with most players.Colours never run wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 10:01 pm Or keep him if a suitable offer hasn't materialised and still be able to sell him for big money at a later date. So £80-90m this summer. £50-60m the following summer. Added to that you have a player who really doesn't want to be there.

Re: Declan Rice
As long as he’s still able to produce at his current level, it may be worth taking the £30m hit to play him for another season.El brooko79 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 10:25 pm Talking about this summer mate, not now.

There really is no rush.
You could argue he could contribute to a higher league finish - more money, attract better players, he is a high profile player to attract sponsors.
You can also argue we have wasted bigger sums on poor signings that contributed far less.
Pretty sure we will have a value and told Rice if it's met he can go. If its not met he won't. Gonna be an exhausting saga though.

I'd love him to stay until the end of his contract then go on a free. It's not our money after all.

Re: Declan Rice
Sell him in January if we're going to, in my opinion. Might be earlier than planned/ideal, but there's a lot of factors that suggest this will be the best time to sell:
1. Straight after the World Cup, his profile will have been raised globally by what I assume are multiple appearances for England. His value is going to be at it's highest to buyers,
2. 18 months left on his contract. Get to the summer and we've got 12 months left, everyone knows that if we trigger the option summer of 2024 we'll have a disgruntled player, so this is entering the time where his value drops more to buying clubs.
3. Clearly has his mind on things beyond West Ham.
4. Minor one, but his workload has been so high over the past 12-18 months I think he's going to be knackered come the end of the season when we might need everyone switched on if form continues in the way it is.
5. He's going to be too busy playing golf and eating Muller Rice to be of use to us, so sod him.[/joke]
