Just come across this thread and can’t overemphasise how valuable it is.
I had a very odd “episode” at work a couple of years ago and was, long story short diagnosed with PTS
I’m very fortunate that my triggers are, pretty much avoidable. I have very understanding workmates but, most importantly I spoke to people.
Family, friends, counsellors and was helped no end.
So many of my workmates opened up about their own issues and that sense of not being “weird” or alone was very important
To anyone struggling I would urge you to speak to someone. Even in here. You’re NOT alone and don’t need to be.

Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).
It's really easy to get problems out of proportion, I think I must have been doing it all my life.
When I first got this diagnosis they gave me an appointment with the main heart man 10 weeks ahead, which seemed pretty bloody awful given that my health was/is deteriorating so quickly. So I had a chat with the GP who was/is really concerned, and he said he'd done everything he could to get it sooner, but the waiting lists were just really long.
Update!.. This weekend they send a new appointment..... 7 weeks later!
Old Tenners would have smashed up his bedroom, got blind drunk, and descended into a spiral of doom.
New Tenners has decided to ditch his principles, and spend some of his funeral stash on a private consultation.... sorted.
There's an answer to most probs(even if it's only armed robbery, and what are they going to do to me that would make things worse? Summer is nearly here, enjoy it

Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).
My mum passed away at 9:15 AM today.
Half the family are in bits and half are pretty calm. I'm in the latter camp.
What is pissing me off is that my mum kept on about having something wrong with her bowel for months. She had a colonoscopy, iniial reports were that she was clear of any probs and the dr's basically said it was Psychosematic and in her head.
They treated her as if she was delusional until she passed. Then the main coloscopy report comes through after she's gone. It is clear that sne DID have a very bad bowel infection that wasn't treated/diagnosed at any time.
In her last days she was treated as if she had a mental illness, when in fact she was in considerable pain suffering from the infection.
When it all calms down after we have arranged her final wishes, there's going to be a massive letter of complaint going in. We don't want any cash - we just don't want other patients to be treated thsi badly.

R. I. P. your Mum, Indy.
You did your utmost for her, and despite the recent months, I'm sure your long lasting memories will be good ones. She's at peace now.
Truly sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss Indy - definitely sounds like a strongly worded letter should be penned when everything has calmed down.

Very sorry for your loss Indy, remember the good times and park the terrible way they mistreated her until you are able to lodge the complaint, all in good time.

Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).
Had to ring our Surgery yesterday to discuss the treatment that lies ahead - was told the Doctor I'd selected as ' My Doctor ' wasn't available for another 10 days [ probably on holiday ] so I spoke to a nice French Lady Doctor who is going to be dealing with me - I said previously that I did more chatting than listening and I did wonder why the Consultant said that Radiotherapy wouldn't commence until November - turns out the hormonal tablets and injections will go on for 6 months not the 3 as I previously stated - good job someone was paying attention .
Actually using my Grade D CSE Maths I think it's more likely it'll happen in December - that Christmas Turkey won't be hanging around long - it'll be in the Treatment Tank before you can say Father Christmas .
