EC, sorry to hear of your loss.
Everyone's got a pet favourite I guess, and all I'd add is if the first one makes no sense then try another.. Etc, etc.
Personally, I really rate Richard Mabey 'Nature Cure'. I've read it over and over, it's practical, comforting and warm.
Best Wishes.

Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).
So sorry to hear of your loss and I hope your wife is ok.
Lois Tonkin's and Kubler-Ross are generally accepted to be amongst the best for grief and bereavement theory.
But it is mainly theory.

Sue Ryder recommends these books and one of them is the Richard Coles book.
Haven't read it myself but I know two bereavement councillors that say it's very good

Can we get UtJ to hook KUMB up with Mind to deal with the impact the General Discussion is currently having on our mental health?
Sorry for your loss, EvilC. Not that hot on book recommendations personally but one that I know someone read in a similar situation was by Megan Devine, think it was called It's OK To Not Be OK. Might be worth a look, they said it helped them.

Thanks Ozza and all of you really for the kind words. It really helps.
I’ve done a form to get an appointment at the doctors for other health issues I currently have so hopefully that’ll help. Hopefully I can get some help for those which will make my day to day a bit easier.

Sorry to hear of you & your wife's loss, EC.
Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).
Hey Mr. C, not sure your wife needs literature.
What she needs is your great big arms giving her a hug today, tomorrow and the next day.
I'm sure you've been doing that.
My Dad passed away close to 32 years ago, aged just 52 and I still haven't got a handle on it.
My other half had to check out of this life last June after her 15 year battle against the inevitable.
I've still not even started to comprehend that.
I think the key is to be kind and loving and just hope that everything that follows seems to be better.
You're going to be best off telling your wife that she'll never get over the loss of her Dad, but day by day things will get easier. Even if that's years.

I don't care right this minute. I'm typing this as pissed as a fart, and zero ****'s given.
I had a phone call today.
All my scans, biopsies, etc, etc have come back clear.
I've been discharged.
I'm cancer free, and so far as bladder cancer goes, 0% chamce now of recurrence.
I'm clear.
I'm alive.
I've beaten it.
I've ****ing beaten it.
f*** you.
f*** you cancer.
Just f*** you.
I am sparing a thought to posters that haven't, and I've raised a glass to them.
Romford, Spiney, and the others.
I salute you all.
I don't feel like I deserve this above you good people - but f*** me I am going to take it.
I beat cancer.
I ****ing beat cancer.
I'm pissed, and in bits right now.
But guess what?
I beat this mutherfucker disease. I did it. I ****ing did it.

Made up for you, DL.
I know it's been a long, tough road.
Drink lots of water and keep some paracetamol by your bed tonight!

Nice one, Nick.
If anything was ever worthy of getting shitfaced for on a Thursday afternoon, I'd say that was right up there.
Good on you.
