Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).
Can only echo what others have said Bristol. One of the worst times in my life was working for a boss who on a personal level was fine, but operated on a different level to everyone else, couldn't explain what he wanted etc and made mine and others life's a complete misery.
The day they announced he was moving "sideways" with no management responsibility felt like a huge weight had been lifted.
Wishing all of you better times ahead.

I don't think there's a right or wrong answer re Google.
The main and most important thing is getting the correct diagnosis, whether you go in prepared or not.
Like I said each to their own, and I can see both sides of the argument, but what works for one might not work for another.

Just as an aside, I'm with DL on the Google thing,...but only in terms of physical health.
[ Some of the MH advice, even from recognised sites like BipolarUK, is questionable......... right bunch of nutters ]

Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).
Tenners is correct.
Mental Health issues by their nature are normally far more difficult to diagnose then physical health stuff.
Also the treatment once you have a diagnosis will vary depending on who you see
Obviously you can use Google as a pointer but if you are at the stage where you are worried enough to use Google then it's probably clear you should be seeking professional advice.
The problem being that our Mental Health services are largely cut to the bone if you use the NHS,even if you go private there is no guarantee you'll get decent treatment.
And then people resort to Google.
Reading back this all looks quite negative, I can assure you all that despite my previous ramblings there are so many good services on offer out there.
I suppose this is where Google comes into its own.

Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).
Just a quick one to say that there are far too many people in the last few pages who are 'belittling their issues'. Every single problem that has been recounted in the last 304 pages started off as a small problem. Money, health, love, family - they're all a ****ing nightmare at times and the point of this thread is for you to share and to grieve if you need to.
I often look around and think that I've been lucky to have more good days than bad days in my 41 years on this planet, but the truth is that some of those bad days have been really bad. Really ****ing bad. And it's not a competition. I just know that I'm glad that I had some help. And I know that when I didn't ask for help those bad days invariably worse and worse. Talk to us and each other when your problems are small and there is less chance that they will grow. And if thy do grow, you'll already have the people in your corner who are there to help. Whatever it is.
Everyone single one of you pricks has reached out to me when I needed help, so please don't hesitate to share on here. You're all smashing and you all deserve the best.

Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).
Just wanted to thank everyone for the support.
It's my Birthday Thursday and whilst it's not a big deal, my family are coming around. I have applied for a big paying post in our team, which most colleagues think I would be great at. I applied and got an interview.
The problem is my boss who I had a huge blow out with.I complained to a Director who forced her to apologise. My boss has already forced out one member of the team by bullying her.
She has put the non negotiable interview on my birthday at 4.00 and made it in person. This means an hour travelling either way. She knew my plans. She is also on the panel.
She has also put through for interview a colleague who she almost put on performances management and who has messed up lots with me picking up the pieces and her going mad about him.
I can see her giving the job to him as payback and it's rocked my confidence. I hate her. I hate going to work at the moment and I am losing interest in something I love doing.
My family usually rallies round but with both kids at University and my wife working long hours as a teacher it has been solitary around the house.
I need to reset but finding it tough, so appreciate the support

Best of luck with the interview Bristol and many happy returns for Thursday.
You have to think that if she had any influence then they wouldn't be interviewing you if she wanted to hold you back. Now do your part, smash the interview and don't give her any excuses in there. Play everything with a straight bat and let your experience do the rest and sounds like you'll be great.

Happy Birthday Bristol, hope you have a wonderful day.
From your description your boss sounds like a complete sociopath/psychopath .
They really are the worst sort of people.
Just try to think that one day someone will work her out and she will be out of your life forever.
Best of luck with the interview and try not to let it ruin your day, remember she is the one with the problem.

Yes good luck Bristol.
I had an awful boss years ago made my life hell did his best to get me fired dragging me through disciplinaries but never succeeded.
Met him at a company I popped into years later whilst still working for the original firm.
He said "really nice to see you" he held out his hand to shake and I left it it there I didn't return the shake. He said "won't you shake hands ? I said "no I've got a long memory."He looked a right knob in front of his new workmates.

Happy birthday and good luck Bristol - if your boss is one person on a panel, at least you'll have others there who will know, and assess, your merits of their own accord.
