I was there but I didn't play as it's not my cup of tea. The guy that organised it said it was a great success and I saw about 40 people there playing - maybe more. A lot of them are going to the GW event up north. It's really taken off at te club. BTW you can join our facebook page HATE (Hackney Area Tabletop Enthusiasts) and don't have to come to the club. WE are looking to crack a 1000 FB members. It's at:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/hackney ... thusiasts/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

From there you can link up and talk to members and discuss Necromunda, SS etc.

One of my friends found a charity shop with some old rule books for fantasy and 40k.

I managed to pick up:
Beastmen 7th/8th edition.
Skaven 7th/8th edition
Empire 7th edition.
Vampire counts 7th edition.

All for £30.

Nice!

There are some old 40k books left if anyone is interested, I can hook you up, just let me know!

Ah, it has been a while!
I am taking a self-imposed week off studying towards my Dissertation over the Easter break (before my brain explodes!) to play a few games of 40K.
Quick update on previous posts:
- I have sold my Blood Angels, Grey Knights and Death Guard. Purely because I will never get around to "feeling the love" as I do with my Dark Angels and Tyranids. They are my 2 armies from now on in; I always keep coming back to them anyway.
- My 2000pt Tyranid army is fully assembled and painted (badly) and I really need a case to transport the 36 Genestealers in!

Using the Behemoth trait to get better Charges....

HQ
Swarmlord in Tyrannocyte with Deathspitters (423pts)
Broodlord (162pts)
Tyranid Prime with Talons, Deathspitter, Toxin Sacs and Adrenal Glands (110pts)

TROOPS
20 Genestealers with Talons (240pts)
16 Genestealers with Talons (196pts)
6 Tyranid Warriors with Talons, Deathspitter, Toxin Sacs and Adrenal Glands (180pts)
3 Ripper Swarms (33pts)

FAST ATTACK
Red Terror (75pts)
9 Raveners with Rending Claws ad Deathspitter (270pts)

HEAVY SUPPORT
Trygon Prime with Toxin Sacs, Adrenal Glands and PHP Tail (211pts)
Mawloc with PHP tail (104pts)

Just an update on the new Beastmen.

Two games done and two victories, they are a fun brutal army to play.

The Doombull especially!

Also AnthraxDave at least she is playing! How are you finding 8th Edition 40k?

Hello mate. Beastmen were great fun in the old Fantasy. Doombull and Minotaur bus all the way :D
I had a small-ish army of them myself about 10 years back.

8th Edition is fantastic. I think it is the best ruleset they have ever done. The games are quick, easy and brutal. The armies are all pretty evenly balanced as well, with nothing an auto-win like certain builds were in previous editions.

I really should dip my feet into Age of Sigmar, but really unsure where I would start. Probably with my old Chaos Warriors army.

Age of Sigmar is completely different to what you might be used to from Fantasy but is now quite similar to 40k. There are so many similarities between the two, things get worse the more wounds you take etc.

It's worth a go, what army would you try?

My friend also got me a Kings of War rule book. Might give it a go soon!

I think it was some Tau idiot cheating with the dice, despite being recorded from overhead. Plus the terrain was, essentially, a load of unpainted laser-cut polystyrene blocks assembled into Aztec style Pyramids. Not something anyone should pay to partake in, especially if it was a GW Tournament.

It reminds me why I only ever play for fun. A few beers, some D6, banter and a laugh.
Yeah, I have done a few tournaments but I always try my best to have fun whilst being competitive - It is a fun game. I also love to help newer players enjoy the game. Rather than just batter them off the table in turn 2 thanks to being a rules-lawyer twat. I genuinely do not care if I lose a game, so long as my opponent and I had fun and shook hands afterwards. +1 handshake if they only ever run fluffy/themed lists.

The idiot Tau player is what ruins it for all of us :x

Go some more intel on the LGT cheating furore!

Tau Cheater: "Oh I've knocked over some of my figures by accident! I'll just stand them up then!"

Tau Cheater proceeds to put his pieces in a much better advantageous position i..e behind items, away from the long range fire etc.

Hero: "You haven't placed them back in the right position."

Cheater: "Oh yes I have! Prove it!"

Member of the audience: "Well as it is the Grand final, I've been videoing it from the start and I think you'll find you have substantially altered where your figures are - and I CAN prove it. Wanna see?"

Plus added intel on the Cheating at the Nottingham GW con:

Hero: "You shouldn't have done that in your last turn, as that's illegal."

Cheater: "Oh I didn't know that rule, may I take my figures back and retake my turn please?"

Hero: "No, just take them back and lose a turn."

Cheater: "That's very unsportsmanlike like of you! Bad play!"

Hero: Turns to audience and pulls in a guy from the audience: "This is my best mate. You tried the same trick on him in the semi's and he pointed out your mistake and explained what you did wrong, and would let you re take your turn if you acknowledged your mistake and agreed to not do it again in the future. You agreed and you retook your turn."

Cheater: "That's not true!"

Guy from audience lifts up a small video camera: "My camera says otherwise - wanna see?"

Moral of the story: don't cheat, especially when you are in the semis/final of a national comp, and every MOFo's videoing it!"

BTW guys you would love my club. They are regularly winning the most sporting opposition trophy (they did at Nottingham) and they are always teaching people how to play.

And our club has one rule: "Don't be a dick!" - just one and it fits the atmosphere of the club lovely.

Awesome stuff, mate. I just do not get the reason why people cheat so much like the idiot at the tournament. Excessively bullied at school or something, I reckon.

Our local group has pretty much the same rule. Also a rule that says "Roll Double 6 on a Charge means you buy your opponent a pint" :D The pub we use is likely to close down this month, so may need to change that second rule if we find somewhere that doesn't serve beer.

I went and bought me some Harlequins this week.
3 Troupes, a Shadow Seer and a Death Jester.
Not quite sure how the heck I am going to manage to paint all them diamond patterns; I'll probably get pissed off and stamp on them.
Welcome to the Space Elf Clown Club, Dave :D

Just finished building up my Bestigors ready for undercoating this week.

They're a nasty little unit that'll probably die quickly!

Also bought a Cygor . . .

It is an addiction ithat will never end.

Beastmen is my last army. . , . . . . Probably
