Me and a mate actually managed to beat Snake, Rattle and Roll without any kind extras, we had to have the NES running overnight (perhaps more than one, can't remember) and were proper nervous about a power outage or overheating. It's not in the same league as the two others I mentioned, but it's considered to be 'kin hard. Unusual angle too

Bionic Commando was supposed to be hard, but I found it really easy. Made it to the end of Batman and kept dying at the Joker - my brother was crap at the game, but I let him try and he ****ed it. I was raging. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was hard, and I died at Shredder. Gonna put that right this weekend as I have it on an emulator! Not sure if Life Force was supposed to be tough, but beat that.

Games are so much easier these days.

Depends what you're looing for Oz, but they're pretty easy to find with a regular search engine enquiry whatever system you're hunting.

Searching archive.org for TOSEC is also a great repository.
