Re: the dinner thread
Mrs is a bit poorly so when I got in from the gym I didn't fancy cooking and she didn't want anything, so beans on toast with a tin of tuna on top, I forgot how tasty it is

Re: the dinner thread
Mrs S-H was out last night, so I treated myself to Beans on Toast.
Marvelous.
Simple things, n' all that.

Re: the dinner thread
I was out last night, and on returning, apparently ate 2 tortilla wraps filled with breadcrumbed scampi, salad and hot chilli sauce. No idea wether I enjoyed it or not.

Sounds great, but me being a pig means this will never happen in our house.Alf Garnett's (Ex) Missus wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 11:14 am Always better day two and three....same as spag bol, chilli....jealous

Sorry but carbonara has to be served and eaten immediately, wouldn't fancy 're heating the sauce you'll end up with 2 day old scrambled egg
Re: the dinner thread
Got to agree with that although I make my sauce with two thirds beaten egg & a third water. It mitigates the worry of the egg cooking too much. Controversial I know but it was an Italian chef that told me to prep it that way so you can all call me out as much as you want, I won’t be listening.
I pushed the boat out last night & made a clear broth.
Homemade chicken & vegetable stock made up the day before with added leeks, potatoes & some really good quality sausage meat rolled up into little balls. Salt, pepper, a cinnamon stick & a pinch of nutmeg.
Cheap & tasty.

Today I am cooking...
A pork belly joint. It was rolled but I've flattened it out. There are only two of us so it will make two meals.
Any ideas? Ideally two quite different meals! I was thinking one traditionally roast-y with mash and veg, and maybe a noodley Asian one.
(Hoping this can become a go-to cooking / recipes thread, unless there already is one in which case feel free to merge!)

Re: Today I am cooking...
This is an excellent, and pretty straightforward, recipe for pork belly from Ramsay. Once it's cooked, cooled and pressed, you can stick chunks of the belly in the freezer, and defrost before the final roast for a quick supper, or slice leftovers thinly for use in Asian soups etc.RaddyKovac wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 4:10 pm A pork belly joint. Re: Today I am cooking...
Anyway, tonight - God knows. Wife's out with her mates, and I want the kids in bed well before the match starts, so will probably have some pasta or something around 6, then end up eating slices of salami and bits of cheese straight out of the fridge at 10pm when I'm inebriated and hungry.
