Treated to Zereshk Polo Morgh (ok, chicken and rice) + Kashk -e-bademjon + Mirza Ghasemi and lashings of doogh (buttermilk) at a Persian restaurant. I can hardly move and there's doggy bags in the fridge.

Re: the dinner thread
Was supposed to be having roast pork belly tonight but Mrs AH is not well and doesn't fancy it, so it'll be Bolognese pizza with extra cheese tonight and belly of pork tomorrow. That'll do!

Re: the dinner thread
Beef short ribs, done in the oven at 100C for 8 hours. Now back in covered with bbq sauce, having trimmed the fat and bones, and some hand-cut chips. Served with peas. Fairly lazy, but ought to taste ok.

Re: the dinner thread
Spot on. That “8 hours at 100C” method was great. Still quite firm after cooking, so they didn’t disintegrate, they trimmed very easily and kept their shape when they came out after the second cook.

Re: the dinner thread
I’ve made some vegetable pasties. Fancied some pastry, like. Was meant to be “traditional” pasties, but I forgot to get beef. So added carrots & peas instead (because I’m a heretic).
Any suggestions what to have with? Have got some mushy peas, but am a bit stumped beyond that. Mash? The wife wants mustard, I’m not so sure. Vinegar?

I had an uninspiring dinner many, many hours ago, but I can't let this thread drop off into the 'disappeared' as there are too many good ideas/recipes to let slide.

Re: the dinner thread
All day Full English vegan breakfast at The Magus in the Fool Roman Road Bow. A deceptively big place run by some Spanish hippies. A real shabby chique feel about it. Very friendly staff and the manageress must had a bath in some kinda essential oils as she smell lovely. Top bogs and a lovely garden too.
Dinner consisted of two hash browns, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, scrambled tofu and you get a real big mug of tea. The chef had cooked it all in various spices and it really brought out the flavours of everything. Had a coffee too - was lovely.
My friend said her roast veg and hummus bagel was "perfect."
It does meat and dairy stuff too, if that's your thing - it's not exclusively vegan.
A wonderful find - the kinda place you can sit and watch the world go by.

Made this, substituting the Parma ham with streaky bacon. Absolutely banging, whole family loved it:
