Excellent, as along as the the emergency helicopter is not grounded they should run. Shame tomorrow is likely to be dry I'd have liked to see Bottas Bowling round 2 (the championship really, really needs it.)

Re: Formula1
Great lap. Shame Lewis’s DRS Failed could have been a merc front row. I wonder if Max will need to change parts, he’s close to taking grid penalties in a number of areas.
(Unlikely to tomorrow but moves the time it will happen closer)
Will be an interesting race tomorrow with the two RBS trying to move through the field on a track where overtaking is not easy. The Alpines will be difficult to pass, making the one stop work could be key.

Re: Formula1
I certainly wouldn't argue with that, he and Ross Brawn dragged Ferrari up from the floor.Ironing Board wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 12:26 am Yup. People forget a large part of Schumacher’s brilliance was the way he developed a car and led a team.
The Mercedes guys actually said Schumacher was the best person they have worked with, which shows just how unique he was.
I just wish he'd had the confidence to let his team mates race him, the Austria 2002 GP was horrendeous
"By this time, Michael was also on the radio, wanting to know when Rubens was going to let him past as previously agreed. How do you reconcile all of that if we don't do what we said we were going to do in the pre-meeting?
https://f1i.com/news/88409-brawn-staged ... rrari.html
It was the 6th race of the season, Schumacher had already won 4, yet his team mate who led from pole had been already told before the race started he had to pull over. I just can't respect a champion like that.
And people complain about Bottas.....

Re: Formula1
The Alpines have impressed me with their pace this weekend. Whether they are where they are on the grid due to their qualifying set up, and whether they will have slower race pace, remains to be seen. Either way ..they will play a massive part in the race today.
A Russell, Norris, Hamilton podium would be superb.

Re: Formula1
Aggressive tyre choice from Red Bull and an excellent drive from Max (got lucky with a spin, not for the first time) grabbed an unexpected win. Great from Lewis, again highlighting the early season nonsense spoken about him and his position relative to George. He’d had a massive chance to win if he’d qualified close to his pace (the drs issue robbed him of the opportunity)
Ferrari, there are no words. When we thought they couldn’t be any more ‘Ferrari’ they take it to new levels.
In the midfield, Danny Ric shown up again and AM looked good in race trim.
Good news for red bull is if the budget cap is still problematic, Max can miss three races and still be guaranteed the lead. I hope all those quick to moan about Mercedes’ and Lewis domination (and constantly point out it’s all the car) apply the same here.

Re: Formula1
2022 F1: Wow, great drive from Max to win from 10th on the grid. (I actually mean this too btw).
2014-2021 F1: Great drive from Lewis to come from 12th on the grid to win. Yeah but it's the car....

Re: Formula1
I don't think it was a great drive by Max today.
The Ferrari fun factory gifted him a win and Mercedes valuable points.

Re: Formula1
Where do we start?
To think, there must be people at Ferrari paid a lot of money to come up with race strategy. The whole grid knew hards were awful, yet they still put LeClerc on them. Once again Sainz ended up on the better stratgey. Either Sainz is cleverer than LeClerc or they have better engineers.
I can't stand Max, I can't stand Red Bull, but no one wins from 10th in Hungary. You have to admit brilliance when you see it.
Finally Hamilton. Today was the perfect example of why Lewis is up there with the greats. He's come second, from 7th, in the third fastest car.
What excuses are his critics gonna come up with now? No one understands tyres better, no one manages tyres better. George may be as quick, but he learned today why team mates struggle against Lewis.
Can you imagine if Bottas had ended up 3rd from pole being passed by Lewis at the end. Patsy! Patsy! Team orders......

Re: Formula1
Verstappen and red bull nailed it today. Can’t fault them.
Hamilton was the other victor as he drove a fine race with a good strategy.
They did come 1-2 so is easy to say but neither should have finished there.
Ferrari strategy team I have no words. But then again I’ve not read the debrief but am surprised sainz was not better on the softs - maybe he killed them too soon I’m not sure.
Think Russell went win or bust, which we all would.
Bring on spa.

Re: Formula1
BILR, Nigel Mansell won from 12th on the grid in 1989. In a Ferrari made of glass & soft cheese, with no PlayStation DRS bull**** to help him either.
He also produces this, probably one of the greatest over-takes in F1 history
