Given Ferraris track record I just don't see how they are a better option

They have a good car. You think the strategists etc wouldn't take on board what a 7 time world champion has to say? He's pretty much earned the right with his experience to tell them how to use him and his race craft.

Both Sainz and Le Clerc make too many mistakes - and in the case of Sainz, he just isn't quick enough full stop.

I think it could be a shrewd move for both Hamilton and Ferrari.

The rumoured £50 million helps that as well.

I reckon he could. They’d sell a bazillion shirts, brand exposure would be huge and winning races would be of irrelevant.

If he can’t win the 8th (though he already has in my and many minds) he might as well make the most from it.

Seems like it was either complete nonsense or a gentle reminder by Lewis's team that he has options.. Look like he will re-sign for Merc afterall.

Anyway the worlds most expensive street procession is underway today... one of the few races I don't go out of my way to watch.. Have Indy500 after the football to keep me occupied instead.

I always thought that one day, Hamilton would end up at Ferrari and how great it would be for him to win one more F1 title at a third team.
I am a little disappointed to read that he is likely to extend his Mercedes contract.
My interest in F1 is as low as it was in the Schumacher era and the idea of Hamilton driving the beautiful red livery around the F1 circuits would certainly pique my interest somewhat. It may still happen one day but it is looking less likely.
Meanwhile it’s Monaco this weekend :asleep:

It doesn't look right seeing these lumbering and long cars going around this circuit. It's crap.

Just watched the formula 3 feature race and even these cars are too big. It’s follow the leader and the only way to over take is to take a huge risk and barge through.

At one point a car had a wing hanging off (after hitting the back of a much slower car in front) and even then as it crawled back to the pits cars couldn’t over take it.

The whole thing is a complete joke.

That being said I sped through F1 qualifying this morning and it as wonderful event. The risks they take are breath taking. I’d imagine it is truly amazing to drive.

Maybe ditch the ‘race’ and have a 5 lap time trial or something.. the event today is largely pointless and is a test of driver mistakes (though you get away with most of those)/pit stop errors and mechanical issues. It’s not (and has not been for a long time) ‘a race’

Yeah, qualifying was incredible. To pull out laps at that place was incredible

Lewis did it twice under maximum pressure, I though he was going to go out in Q1 and Q2.

Fair play to Max that was some last sector, he kissed every wall.

The Merc underside got shown to the world, I assume some photographers saw the Red Bull after Perez binned it?

They should just give out the points for quali. It's far more entertaining than the race.

I'm told it rained at Monaco. It must have been a really exciting race then. Right?

Wasn’t terrible. I watched it in the end (despite saying I wouldn’t). Of the the races today F3,2,1 it was the ‘best’ of the three.

Main issue again was the durability of the tyres, with the softest three chosen Max was able to do 2/3 of the race on mediums. It simply should not be possible.

The rain bought a few slides and scares, Ferrari Ferrari’ed and Merc pick up the pieces (despite George’s effort to mess it up). I still want it ditched as a race. The pit lane is dangerous, it wouldn’t be allow anywhere else.

Rain made it interesting for a few minutes but once everyone was on the right tyre ...

I will say however, that Max put in some stonking laps while most were tip-toeing, proper talent. Shame he is a nob, works for red bull, surrounded by the most toxic fan base, etc, etc

I've been watching F1 since I was 9 years old in 1991.

The death of my favourite driver at the time (Senna, obviously) did not turn me off.
The years of Schumacher dominance didn't drive me away.
Same goes for Vettel and Hamilton, I kept watching.
Every single race from 1991 to 2022.
But Max Verstappen broke me.

Now I spoil the result for myself first. If Max didn't win, I watch the race. Otherwise, I skip it.

If you want to see some decent action, Indy 500 has been everything that Monaco isn't.
