Re: Formula1
When two cars racing each other both slow down to avoid crossing the DRS detection line first, e.g. Saudi Arabia. It’s a ridiculous look for the ‘pinnacle of motorsport’.
Talking of ridiculous looks, the Merc looks like an early prototype for a lawnmower or vacuum cleaner.
And the bouncing (all cars) is embarrassing. Part of my enjoyment of F1 is the engineering.
This, the DtS generation of partisan support, F1 chasing the dollar over legacy fans like me, lack of real racing, artificial overtakes, etc … Not sure I’ll complete this season tbh. Sold my Silverstone grandstand ticket by the way.

Re: Formula1
I haven't watched a race yet this season, and I'm not sure I will. All F1 needs right now are a few windmills and a giant clown's mouth to complete the transformation to Wacky Races.Gaz wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 8:03 am When two cars racing each other both slow down to avoid crossing the DRS detection line first, e.g. Saudi Arabia. Re: Formula1
RIP Tony Brooks, the last surviving Grand Prix winner from the 1950's. Only Jackie Stewart and Jacky Ickx survive as winners from the 60's. A sad day as I saw Brooks demonstrating a Vanwall at Silverstone in 1969 , 7 years after his retirement at the age of 29.
Re: Formula1
My god, my sky series link recorded the 'opening ceremony' for the Miami GP. Thought I'd take a look this morning. 'This world isn't for the likes of us'.
I'd have a moan but this is the future of F1 apparently. I'd just sound like an old luddite.

He might increasingly be looking like a homeless dude by Seb never misses a chance. Good on him.

Indeed he is. I wonder what his knowledge in the UK local elections is. Interesting and hopefully they ask him some sensible questions.LittleChris wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 1:35 pm Apparently Seb is appearing on Question Time from Hackney this coming Thursday.

Re: Formula1
Assuming its a clean race, I can't see anything other than a Ferrari 1-2.
The chances of it being clean are remote though as that track has some shocking corners to navigate.

Re: Formula1
Rain around in Miami. Track is an ice rink off the racing line. Over taking could be challenging and those walls are inviting. Saying that after an eventful race yesterday the W series second race was very clean.

Re: Formula1
Pretty boring race up to the safety car. George (after a solid drive on hards) lucks out with SC timing once again - it really is going for him on race day this year.
Max in the Red Bull is so much faster, even with DRS Charlie can’t touch him. They have to close the at speed differential.
Albon in the points again which is great and nice to see Alonso actually penalised for some of the **** he pulls for once.

Re: Formula1
Last year was one of the most exciting seasons in living memory, so in order to spice the racing up they change the formula and end up with what looks like could become a season of routine red bull wins.
Fake marinas, fake crowd noise, fake celebrities …
Good step forward by the Mercs though.

Re: Formula1
Bit of a non-event until the SC. All the drivers looked ****ed after. The heat and humidity must be a killer!
Lots of razzamatazz, which sort of overshadowed the event tbh.
On to Spain....

Re: Formula1
They estimated 4kg weight loss for the race, would be interesting to see what they actually lost. Doesn't sound very healthy to me but I'm sure they are in good medical hands and will re-hydrate sufficiently after the race.

Re: Formula1
To quote something I just read, congratulations to the US on building their own Sochi equivalent.
Poor track. Poor race, miles too much hype.
I assume Perez and Sainz will soon be getting the same level of stick Bottas did, after all, anyone should be able to win in their cars.
