Choose or Die

I liked the start but it does feel all a little too familiar in the Squid Game kinda vein. Also, the 80s nostalgia trip is being done to death now. I already thought it was overkill around 5 years ago but it has just continued.

Severance

This is a mystery/sci-fi series on Apple TV starring Adam Scott. He's the obnoxious brother who sings in Step Brothers. Ben Stiller co-directs. I thought this show was so cleverly thought out. The ending leaves things on a real cliffhanger. I can't wait to see what's next. I quite like some of Apple TV's stuff but not sure how much exposure their shows get as it is probably one of the more minor platforms compared to Amazon, Netflix and now Disney. Score of 8.7 on IMDB which I say is about right.

What made Netflix so appealing to begin with, was the quality over quantity.

They somehow seem to have lost their way in that regard.

BCS is building nicely.

Starting to get an idea about what might happen to a certain someone.

Although with this show, it always seems to go, where you least expect it to.

It really is superb writing.

Anatomy of a Scandal is particularly good.

About a MP who is accused of rape by his parliamentary aid who has had an affair with her previously.

Really getting good, I'm 4 eps in!

Thought S6 E3 was as good as it gets - the consistency in the writing is on another level - not going to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet other than you're in for a treat .

Re-watching S5 again .

The Last Duel [ 2021 ]

Set in Medieval France the film is based on the true story of Jean De Carrouges [ Matt Damon ] and his erstwhile friend , Jacques Le Gris [ Adam Driver ] -

Gist of the story is Le Gris rapes Carrouges' wife , Marguerite [ Jodie Comer ] and the tale is then told from the point of view of all three protagonists

Ridley Scott directs what is a beautifully photographed film and everyone plays their part really well - though I'm not sure what the idea of the 3 viewpoints were other than to show us how crap life was for Medieval Women - the duel scenes are astonishingly good but you have to wait until the end of the film for those . 8/10

Joker - have to finish it today cos at barely 25 minutes in Mrs found it too upsetting (she works with 'disturbed' people), crying and all. Think it picked up a lot of criticism from professionals but Joaqim's got me fascinated.

Better Call Saul -

I'm watching every episode of Series 6 twice , in fact I've watched the first 3 episodes three times so far .

The 5th Episode yesterday felt more like a filler though there's a LOT going on - what I find amazing about this series is there isn't a duff performance from anyone , everyone is at the top of their game -

The only negative aspect of Better Call Saul is once you've watched this series everything else seems second rate by comparison .

Agree, very good in a soap opera-ey way. Best thing is the attempt at portraying life in the corridors of power and particularly the personal relationships. Hope it's not a spoiler but it was clearly inspired by the 'Bullingdon Club' public school world - might have been better if they had anonymised the political party involved. Also think they left the door open for a second series.

Does anyone else ever have series disappearing from Netflix? 2 or 3 times I have gone to watch Better Call Saul and it just isn't there, 24 hours later it then appears again. Just wondering if this happens to anyone else?

Nope, never seen that.

The only time I have ever had trouble not missing content, its because I have inadvertently started the App with a VPN on...
