Just watched DON'T LOOK UP & highly recommend it.

A comedy/social commentary about 2 scientists who discover a comet is going to hit earth in 6 months but people are more interested in their phones, social media, partisan politics, sex scandals...well basically it's mocking todays society with a definite nod to the American right & their refusal to believe climate change is happening.

Leonardo DiCaprio & Jennifer Lawrence star.

A massive let-down for me, that one. It lacked all of the wit and subtlety of the Big Short, which I thought was fantastic from Adam McKay, and resorted to an in-your-face satire of 'look how stupid they all are!'

It's on Prime but just started watching an American comedy - "The Last Man on Earth" - an easy watch, not side splitting funny but a good watch all the same.

Finished Stranger Things. All caught up, finally. Some elements I thought were outstanding, some I thought were hokey, mawkish, superfluous even at times. Far more good to it than bad though so I'm glad I've seen it and I'll certainly be seeing it through to its conclusion whenever that arrives but, ultimately, it goes on the "almost great" pile.

Did the first four episodes of season 3 of The Boys last night. Watching The Boys is, for me, a bit like eating candy floss. It's a yummy sugar rush at the time but it has little substance and offers zero sustenance. So I spent most of the first episode-and-a-half trying to remember who everyone was and where we'd left them last. Once I was reoriented though it became a blast once again. A squelchy, head-popping blast.

I'm also crashing through all 70 episodes of The Munsters (1964-1966) on DVD, in preparation for Rob Zombie's imminent movie adaptation, the trailer for which is being absolutely caned online but I couldn't give a shitty bumsmack because I love Rob Zombie and I love The Munsters. So there.

Nicely sums it up. It's a real shame because some of the themes within The Boys are really on point; it seems like its in too much of a rush to get to the next set piece.

Best thing about the Munsters (and I loved the Munsters back in the day) were the cars. I think I'm right in saying my brother was pretty good friends with Herman Munster's real daughter in the mid 70's.

Just watched a Netflix doc called The Phantom about a murder of a young lady in a petrol station in Texas & the subsequent arrest of a local bloke.

Now watching a UK crime documentary called Mummy's Little Murderer about a rich kid in Bournemouth who killed his Kiwi sort.

Watched Okja (dir: Bong Joon-ho) on Netflix. Jake Gyllenhaals grating performance aside, I thought it was a really good film. It maybe even gave me a little push towards vegetarianism.

The most hated man on the internet..... another shock doc true story about a revenge porn website.

The longest night......Spainsh serial killer gets caught and locked up, someone needs him broken out, again only one episode in but looks promising.


Watched the DB Cooper doc and The girl in the picture which I can recommend.

Cowspiracy and What the Health up next?

I try and stay clear of those type of documentaries... they're never particularly balanced - especially the health related ones. Same with the books. Just full of cherry picked studies and confirmation bias. That especially applies to Mr Campbell. If I did give up then a) it would be for ethical reasons only, and b) it would be vegetarian, not vegan. The idea that I could never bite into a nice chunk of vintage cheddar again is far too distressing.
