Original, dig it. Spin-off films with Nimoy etc, dig it. Whatever film it was with new actors playing young Kirk etc, dig it.

Gap, apart from Consellor Troi, who's an old biddy now.

Discovery, YEAH! What a wake-up! Enjoying muchly, but even at warp-speed is light years away from the original. Tardigrades fungally connected to all space and time, well alright.

Politics turned upside down in alternate universes (iike West Ham being gifted 3 points) yes indeed!

Enjoying Discovery.

Yeah, Disco3 hasn't exactly set the pulses pounding yet. Too much focus on Burnham, again, and lot of touchy-feely/emotional nurturing stuff, has left it being a bit TNG-ish (ie dull and plodding), which is a major shame as Disco 2 was terrific

I’m glad it’s not just me. If it doesn’t improve soon I’m out.

Are we allowed to mention Babylon 5? I rather enjoyed that too, especially when it really started kicking off.

+1 for Bab 5. I had an hernia op yonks ago and couldn't move from the setee - it was the knitting needle and barb wire job - so I sat their watching back to back Bab 5 - loved it. Amazingly immersive.

Also caught a random episode of DS 9 today - where Gul Ducat is helping out Cisco and the crew - and it made me want to watch them all over again.

Looks like Disco is ripping off Tron legacy.

I gave up with Disco a few episodes into series 3. Series 4 doesn't look much better.

Picard was okay, Pat Stewart carried it.

Picard was the worst that has ever been done to the Star Trek franchise.
Disco simply better should have been called "Star Trek - Burnham".

In more Star Trek news, the animanated series Star Trek Prodigy has a first look out, but I can't find a copy of it without a lot of waffle from idiots wrapping it up... and quite honestly, it looks like gargage anyway.

There's another series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, featuring Captain Pike from Discovery series 2

And, coming up in 2023, a new ST feature film, of which pretty much nothing is announced other than that it exists/will exist

Ha, 2½ years ago I wrote this:
last.caress wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2019 5:07 pm I like the original series, the first half-dozen films (sort-of), and the newer, re-booted movies. The Kirk/Spock/McCoy stuff, basically. And I only took a liking to that lot maybe three years or so ago now. It wouldn't be right to say that I dislike TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise or Discovery; I just haven't given any of them a try. I've never felt the urge to try TNG even though it appears to be widely considered the best of the bunch by those who would know. I've kind-of fancied looking at DS9 but, as with TNG (and with Voyager I suppose, not that I'm particularly interested in that one), I get the sense I've probably missed the boat; those shows feel as though they'd be too dated now to inspire a first time viewing, but not dated enough yet to exude any retro charm either. I dunno.

And now:

Happy Star Trek Day, everyone!

I mean I'm a day late but, still. 55 years (+1 day) since Star Trek first aired.
