s1 wasn't great, and s2 was largely terrible, but s3 has got off to a much better start. S3 was supposed to be the end, but there have been signs that they might come back for another go after this

I might need to check out the new series of Picard based on what you guys are saying. I enjoyed series one but series two was abysmal.

Really enjoying Picard (just watched episode 5). I hope the story continues to build to a decent conclusion.

I haven't enjoyed any sci-fi based tv series since the first season of The Mandalorian.

Season 3 of Picard is an absolute joy.

As someone who grew up watching TNG, and is now up to date with the penultimate episode of season 3, I am not ashamed to say - good grief, some of this season has brought a tear or two to my eye, but nothing more than this latest episode. Brilliant.

Well that was rather good and emotional. Season 3 was a worthy final season of TNG (which it defacto was)

Hang around for a mid-credit scene as well..

Season 3 is a masterpiece. I managed 4 episodes of Season 1, and watched the Q clips from 2, with little interest. But this is very special TV.

Let's try this in the right thread: Offical trailer out for SNW series 2. And yes that is Boimler and Mariner. And if you don't know who they are, shame on you!

I once saw that USS spaceship model used in the series on display in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC. So far as I know, it is still there

PS. It was a long time ago, too

I must be made of stone. Jesus they laid the end of Picard on with a trowel.

I enjoyed it, with a huge pinch of salt. Gritty it wasn't.

Bit too twee and nostaligic for me.

probably doesn't mean much on here, but I watch Pluto tv.

it's privately owned tv "station" for want of a better word. they have all sorts of tv stuff on there.

it's pretty good and more than likely you can find something that takes your fancy to watch. old to older series, no live tv so to speak.

anyway I bring this up, I don't know how much it costs to advertise on there. they don't have "normal" advertising breaks.

however, I've watched perhaps 4 or 5 different channels today, to me Saturday afternoons are "western" Saturdays. EVERY break on EVERY channel has advertised the Paramount ST - SNW series.

I mean EVERY break on EVERY channel. normal shows break about 20 minutes in. these are older channels that I'm watching (Gunsmoke, Rawhide, Wanted Dead or Alive and Paladin) but I'm binge watched all afternoon since maybe about 2 pm and now it's 8 pm. 6 hours says 3 to 4 breaks per hour as each show doesn't exactly go a full 60 or 30. let's say conservatively 18 breaks but EVERY channel. I'm guessing that it's on the other channels that I'm not watching so I hope that Paramount get a lot of dosh for this show because on top of production there's these advertising costs without of course main stream tv

after doing what was it, season 1 I have no interest in watch the ST series but were I maybe in the not having seen a series yet, this mass swamp of advertising would put me off rather than on, watching it.

I'm (not literally of course) pulling my hair out every break seeing the same ad.

mate of mine used to say

there's a difference between scratching your arse and tearing a lump off.

Star Trek: Prodigy has been cancelled by Paramount+ and will be removed from the platform - and from Nickelodeon - in the next few days. It was renewed for a second season back in 2021 and that second season - currently in post-production - will apparently be completed so's CBS can shop it around, see if they can find a new home for it. But it won't be on Paramount+.

That's a weird decision - for a kid's cartoon series, it was pretty damned good, and the animation was (appropriately!) stellar.

I guess the rumours of Paramount being short of money, and having to cut corners, may well be true

they've spent it all on Pluto advertising ST - SNW

think it must be on about 10 times and hour now, (or seems like it anyway) on every channel seemingly. that can't be cheap. and if it's THAT good, why the need for all of this advertising ?
