West Ham Utd 0-2 Everton (30/03/19)

Post by One Peter Butler »

I have mainly started this because I set myself a quiz and promised I would not google the answer.

I have not answered it yet I do not think.

This game is a chance for a rare double over this lot. When did we last do the double over them? I have probably missed an easy answer but not sure I have.

And:

Keep blending the youth please MP.

2-2 draw or possibly a win if The General returns!

hard fought victory against a difficult opponent would set us up nicely.

fab
zab diop Balbuena cresswell
noble rice Snodgrass
Antonio arnie Anderson

subs Adrian fredericks ogbonna masuaka obiang Hernandez diagana

Last chance for arnie to put some effort in as Hernandez is ready and eager to play ! Chosen arnie as he has the physicality and better all round game for us but if he cant be bothered then sub him after 30 mins.

1-0 antonio

Everton are consistently more inconsistent than West Ham!

I don't know about when we last doubled them, if we ever have, indeed, but if we did win this match, it would be our third in a row victory against them, which, in itself would be notable.

Should be an entertaining match, because the two teams share defensive frailties, and have decent, creative players going forward.

Two fragile defences with strong attacks that like tl go all out featuring a Brazil international each, should be goals galore.

0-0 then.

We absolutely must make changes from the Huddersfield game. Especially defensively as players need to realise standards can't slip and they will be punished for poor performances. The hardest decision is who to drop out of Diop and Ogbonna. As for me Diop has been playing the worst out of the 2, but I remember how poor Ogbonna and Balbuena played together at the start of the season. And we only improved once we played an extra midfielder (Rice) and went with Diop and Balbuena as a partnership.

Of course we haven't achieved anywhere near enough clean sheets this season, but up until Balbuena got injured we weren't really letting a bucket load of goals in either. When we lost matches we never really got thrashed unlike last season. We tend to lose by a goal.

The other dilemma is whether to give Arnie one more chance, or hope to god Hernandez can start a match well enough from the beginning instead of coming off the bench. Not to mention the majority of his goals have been against the real cr*p from this League, which is a group Everton are most certainly not a part of.

Anderson is another that's in last chance saloon for me. He has been very quiet in 2019 and I thought he was awful against Huddersfield. That assist for the winning goal may have just about saved him his spot in the starting line-up for me. Otherwise Nasri, who played on the left at times for Man City can come in for him.

I wouldn't expect Anderson to be dropped anyway as after spending a huge amount to sign him Pellers will probably feel under pressure to play him.

We need to make sure we are equally set-up to be able to score goals as when we struggle not to score we certainly do struggle. We can look like we're not going to score if we played all week at times. And the trouble is with our weak defensive frailties and the fact Everton as weak as they can be defensively too, always tend to score goals. So we need to make sure we take our chances.

I would go for the same formation that we played at Goodison. A 3 in midfield. I don't think Pellers will do that, but that's what I would do. Obiang would've been perfect for this type of game. But as I have said numerous times before I think we should really start to only pick players for the match day squad that are likely to be here next season. So would go with Snodgrass who will at least get stuck in and maybe promote Coventry to the bench over Obiang as we have no one else thanks to Sully's under investment.

My team:

----------------------------------------Fabianski---------------------------------

-Fredericks-----------------Balbuena-----Diop---------------------Cresswell-

--------------------------------------------Rice----------------------------------------

---------------------------------Noble-------------Snodgrass-----------------------

-Antonio------------------------------Arnautovic-----------------------Anderson-

Subs: Adrian, Johnson, Ogbonna, Coventry, Lanzini, Nasri, Hernandez.

love that line up chicken, though anderson is out of time for and he's only on the pitch for me cause we lack a good matt jarvis type. shame we don't have allardyce back to make the most of it.

........................Rice.............

Nasri..........Noble.....Lanzini.......Snodgrass

......................Arnie (last chance)

Wont be the team but would be mine for this game...

First name on team sheet should be Nasri, we wouldn't have beat Huddersfield without him. I wanna see more of him and Chicharito together.

Cannot understand the people who are picking Arnie and saying last chance. Arnie has had plenty last chances already and is just going through the motions until he gets his move in the summer. He did similar at Stoke before coming to us.

Hernandez wants out due to not getting enough gamer time and has scored 2 goals in his last game yet people want him benched over Arnie who is barely even trying after getting a massive wage rise just to keep him sweet until the summer.

Thanks to Arnie's tantrums we missed out on a possible 6th or 7th finish.

I would play the Pea and let Arnie do what he does best sulk on the bench.
