Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
I guess for competition reasons rather than financial reasons Albie – having everything done and dusted before a ball is kicked is so self-evidently better for everybody in the game bar (some) owners and (all) agents. But you're right that there is an opportunity created by the PL being absent from the final weeks.
Choosing competition integrity (such that it is) is probably a luxury only the PL with its fiscal power can afford to indulge in.

Ace, the turkeys voted for Xmas once but I doubt there will be a recurrence. Cynic that I am I doubt if any major club will put the integrity of the competition before its own interest, and the power does rest with the clubs in this.

If I recall, can play striker or winger, now a free agent. Possible cover for the loss of Little Pea and Antonio until January?

He did not feature in Malaga's three league matches this season.”
Let’s hope not.

Premier League squad submitted with full complement of 17 non homegrown players. We can put Okazaki rumours to bed.

Weren't nearly all of those appearances as a Sub? Never understand why minutes per assists/goals ratio isn't printed (& number of penalties) as a much more reliable guide.LeonRivers wrote: “Okazaki won the Premier League with Leicester in 2016 and left this summer after scoring 19 goals in 137 games.

Chicharito wasn't going to get minutes @ 140K a week so not sure why we think some jobber/journeyman is going to get minutes......
and Sully won't think so either...

Sully's probably thinking that we'll go as we are and if the horrid injury scenario should appear there'll still be some old bangers on the forecourt that he can roll in.

I reckon Chicarito would've got plenty of minutes this season had he stayed.

I reckon Haller will do us better than Arnie in that even if he doesn't score as many, he won't be as disruptive.steveyrockstar wrote:I reckon Chicarito would've got plenty of minutes this season had he stayed.
so unless there's an injury with him, the other bloke won't see much field time.
we had Arnie, Chicharito and Perez last season and Perez hardly played at all. And Chicharito and Perez and Carroll only got minimal time due to Arnie having a couple of injuries and a dreadful strop then not being in the right frame of mind to play.
so I don't reckon he would have gotten much time at all. not as if we are going to get to both cup semi finals either is it.......

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
Haller was injured, to miss our second match.
It's madness to think only he and Ajeti who, in all fairness, looked like he needs minutes here and there, not the burden of leading our line alone, if the big man gets injured, or even suspended.

Ajeti is unproven. He was awful against Newport. It's possible we have just 1 decent cf until Jan. Ridiculous situation for us.

yep, replaced Chicharito according to * & *Johnny Byrne's Boots wrote:Is (the injured) Xande Silva in the squad?
but he's still rehabbing from his illness.........
Ajeti better be something, I know it today's market 8M ain't much, but he had better to be able to at least function..
and we were all pretty much shyte against Newport, don't single him out. he didn't get much service at all.....on another day we would have lost that game....

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
Chicarito was a great strategic option off the bench (imo), when looking for an equaliser/winner, and changing the formation to go two up front. That's where I think he would have got his game time, far less so as a replacement for an injured Haller.Cuenca 'ammer wrote: I reckon Haller will do us better than Arnie in that even if he doesn't score as many, he won't be as disruptive.
