Yet more good news for beer drinkers.18 years after the wicked EU ordered us to remove the iconic Royale crown crest on your pint glasss, well Boris - good on him, has ordered them to be re-Instated. That's a vote winner if ever there was one and they will be back down you local just in time for Her Maj's Platinum Jubillee. Check them out next time you're pissing it up down down the pub

Nope, terrible stuff. It was everything that was wrong with beer in the 70s and 80s. Even the re-issue stuff was gash.

Err, I don’t think that the EU banned the crown on glasses to signify that it was a measured pint. It was replaced with the CE logo to indicate that it was regulated measure. I seem to recall that it was the glass manufacturers chose to save money and not have both etched on the glass.Puff Daddy wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 3:05 pm Yet more good news for beer drinkers.18 years after the wicked EU ordered us to remove the iconic Royale crown crest on your pint glasss, well Boris - good on him, has ordered them to be re-Instated. It was indeed. There was a whole range of gassy piss poor beers served in pubs in the 70’s like Whitbread Trophy, Ind Coope Long Life and Worthington E. Although I must admit to a guilty pleasure in enjoying Youngers Tartan. Sorry, but not sorry.Greatest Cockney Rip Off wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 4:53 pm Nope, terrible stuff. Now that stuff really was terrible. It was a cross between a lager and a bitter from what I remember. Disgusting stuff that used to come in cans.

Duke of Edinburgh's favourite tipple was a Double Diamond. Surely he must've known a good brew when he saw one ?

Lidel have Greek Retzina wine on sale in just over a pint bottle with a proper metal beer cap for £3.99! Obviously I bought a bottle and am giving it a go tonight. So far so bad.it tastes like petrol. On the upside it does the job - I'm just waiting for he crippling hangover today (if my past experiences in Greece are anything to go by.)
It was a nostalgia purchase

Just thought I’d chime in to say that Asahi is the best lager around.

If you like red wine, the Pinotage at £3.89 a bottle in Lidl (the one with the giraffe on the label) is pretty damn good.
Drunk plenty of wine 2 or 3 the price that was not as good Cheers

I live in Kent with lots of Shepherd Neame pubs. The pubs themselves are normally lovely but the beers? Can’t find one I like and that includes the Asahi. Just another in the Peroni/ Moretti identi-kit uninspiring mould.Billydinho wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 9:33 am Just thought I’d chime in to say that Asahi is the best lager around.

Camping in Somerset in two weeks. Just looked up what they sell in their camp shop and it includes Hecks cider - get in!

I also live in Kent and to be honest, with Shep's pubs you have a pretty decent range. Depends what you're into. The Spitfire lager is drinkable, the ales are really good as in Spitfire or Bishop's Finger if you just want one or two - Master Brew if you're on a session or their range of dubious American hoppy style beers which caters for the craft beer lovers.DaveWHU1964 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 8:55 am I live in Kent with lots of Shepherd Neame pubs. I can't stomach all this craft/real ale so it's lager for me now and not the modern stuff that tastes like bog cleaner.
