SammyLeeWasOffside wrote: Fri Aug 05, 2022 2:33 pm Ah the old whataboutery argument again. It's no wonder we never learn anything when the sins of the past are so easily excused because it's a different party.

I didn't remember it at all. I googled £12m immigration detained and that came up. Which is precisely why I asked, nobody remembers it, nobody castigates the Brown govt as fascist etc yet a labour govt was up to the same incompetent crap.

But yeah it will all change once the govt changes.
Ah the auld what about whataboutery argument. Ignore today's troubles cos it's all happened before.

I think ultimately we probably agree with each other. And given enough time I'm sure I could prove it.

Do we actually have a government at the moment? Anyone seen any governing, good or bad, going on lately? Asking for a friend.

The complete opposite really. There's no such thing as drawing a line under govts. There not today's troubles they happen over and over.

Getting rid of this lot won't end the incompetence and corruption. Changing the colour of the system is ignoring the troubles of today and the last 60 years or more.

No but isn't that what people wanted, Johnson with his hands firmly tied after resigning?

Honestly Sam, I can’t believe some of your ‘arguments’ nowadays mate. Who here or anywhere, outside of Johnny Rotten and the gang back in the day, wanted no government?

Truss says on TV “I’ll raise £8.3bn by cutting regional public sector pay”

Storm rightly blows up, then says: I never said that

Sunak caught on video saying he’ll take money from deprived urban areas to help wealthy Tory towns

Storm blows up, then says: I never said that.

Post-Johnson is post-truth in Tory La-La Land it seems.

I didn't say people wanted no government. Nobody wanted the lame duck govt legislating. There was plenty of fearful stuff about him still having his hands on power - Labour tried to have a VOC to get him out. Thats essentially where we are at, a neutered, impotent govt. Now people want them to do their job but if they start doling out more money or in fact doing anything people will be up in arms about that as well. You can't have them being restrained from taking action and also want them governing.

Why political parties all seem to need 2 or 3 months to pick a leader is probably what we should all be asking.

For me we have a deputy prime minster for a reason. Soon as Boris (or whoever it is in the situation) resigns that should be it.. the deputy should take over until a new leader is elected

Yeah, but then we'd have Dominic Raab in charge. I reckon no government would be better than that.

I saw him yesterday, looking very half-hearted waving some soppy Sunak banner, on the news.

He couldn't lead his way out of a paper bag.

He could have resigned there and then leaving raab to take over anyways..

What should happen is an election as we the people have zero say

It prob would be the smart move .. Labour may get in then come the next election the Tories can throw the cost of living crisis at their door as it will be labour dealing with the fall out not them.
