Corona virus WHU /football related

Post by bonzosbeard » Wed Feb 26, 2020 5:36 pm

I understand there is a thread on Numb but I just wanted to discuss the possible implications to the sporting calendar now that the Ireland rugby game had been postponed.

Hopefully we will be out of the woods shortly but if not could the Premier league be suspended? If so how long? Would all games be void and restart in August?

Would we then stay up?

Would Liverpool have to start again?

Mods I understand if you prefer to add it to the existing thread.

As long as it sticks to the implications for football supporters it can stay.

As soon as it veers into cultural or political arguments then it goes into the other one.

The responsibility lies with posters

End the season now, award the title to Liverpool, only relegate the bottom side and promote the Championship champions (Brom) and go again next season.

Just my completely impartial take on things  You can never be too safe!

If things get worse I can see games being suspended.
If it goes on and lots of games are having to be rescheduled then at some point they may have to scrap the season. Either that or play games behind close doors.

Agreed, after all Man City might still make a comeback.

It would be massively unfair for Liverpool to be awarded the title, I'm sure they'd agree.

I think the Inter game tomorrow night is to be played behind closed doors? Surely that must come first, before we start awarding titles and finishing the season early.

Hear that the Sheff Utd Lawyers are just arriving at CAS. Several of their players had the "Corona" Virus and couldnt play thus denying them the title/the chance to qualify for europe.

The BBC should be held accountable for their massive level of scaremongering on this issue. It’s like there’s nothing else to report.

It’s even outdoing their coverage of women’s football and Nigel Farrage.

We could play games behind closed doors and the attendance will still show as 59000+

It is possible the Euro footie finals this summer could be at serious risk, even the summer Olympics in Japan. Right now, I can't see how either can go ahead

Cancel the entire PL season, just to be on the safe side.

Just void this season and start again when the Corona virus is all cleared up.

Imagine Liverpool’s reaction at not winning the league this time ! There 30 year wait to drag on
