Not that kind of thread Bootsy

They Brethren gather here to commune and share the sheer joy of cycling, the visceral thrill of the wind in the face and an open road ahead, the zen-like moments of transcendence when it's man and machine in silent union, the pedals turning and the tyres humming with only a wide blue sky above you...

Ahhh, soon boys...very soon.

Duly noted  I suppose that accounts for it not being The Sports Bar.

P.S. You missed out bees up your nose and spilled diesel.

Got back earlier from a ride that took in some of the hilly countryside around us ... just checked my speed down the big hill - 64kph .... gulp - got clammy hands thinking about it - thankfully nothing jumped out of the hedge and that all nuts and bolts on the bike were secure!!

About 40mph, which feels even faster with the wind blowing through your hair and scarier if you start worrying whether the brakes work/the wheels are secure/if a stray pheasant will jump out of the hedge/potholes appear!!

It’s a route I only do occasionally, due to the above ... and am more likely to cycle up it than down. The ‘other side’ of the hill, has a more gentle gradient ... probably only get up to 30mph max on that!!

 f*cking 'ell.. yeah, you wouldn't enjoy coming off at that speed..
Road from Aveley down to the old A13 I think I got 34 once. You do start to feel a bit like Evel Knievel, at that point.
B-i-l & his mate always wanted to tow a bike fast enough to set a speed camera off (without the camera getting the tower, obvs).
They never tried in the end.
I've always wondered if a bicycle would actually set one off?

Lycra underneath thin Endura Humvee shorts. I'll leave the full on lycra to the more svelte amongst us - until I can get under 200 pounds it really isn't a pretty sight.

Always helmet and gloves, too many offs over the years to convince me otherwise.

Always helmet and gloves. ... as for Lycra - I couldn’t do that to other users of the road, the stench of piss as they laugh so much would be unbearable.

Lads, I saw this and thought of you...

A Cyclist in the English Landscape

Grounded by the pandemic, a travel photographer spent the year cycling the roads around his house, and produced this series of poetic self-portraits. It could be anyone of us in these beautiful snaps, he really captures the feeling of early morning cycling through a misty landscape well.

Lovely stuff
