It's actually relatively common for asylum seekers from Muslim countries to 'convert' to Christianity as it then allows them to tick the box stating that they would be persecuted due to their religion should they return back to their country of origin. In a similar vein, the homosexual box gets ticked quite often too.

It's not a new thing - people in prison find God (and some genuinely do) when their parole hearings are up.
