Great Cover Versions

Post by Korea Hammer »

We might argue about which cover versions belong in this thread and which belong in the other one, but this is for cover versions you love.

A few personal favourites...

I'll probably get some hate for this first one, but both the guitar and the vocals suit the song waaay more than the original... not denying that the original band is far superior though!

In terms of a cover that is completely stylisticly detached from its original, I am really fond of this jazzy version of Radiohead's Creep:

I'll offer up three of my favourite covers from an artist who was a great songwriter in his own right.

That Portishead track is quite cool, Del, I've never heard that before. Laibach, however, can be filed alongside Sparks, The Boomtown Rats, Devo and Jonathan Richman in as much as I am always completely baffled at the appeal.

Glad Limp Bizkit found its way on to this thread and not the other one, I always enjoyed the cover. They made it quite hauntingly melodic compared to the original and that will always be a plus in my book.

Can't have this thread without Disturbed.

I've only ever heard her play it live as an encore and I suspect she never recorded it but, Julia Fordham's cover of Love Don't Live Here Anymore is quite something.

As is .... AWB doing the Isleys

and, of course
