Re: Great Cover Versions
Only discovered fairly recently that Since You Been Gone (Rainbow) was a cover. Top pub rock anthem.

Re: Great Cover Versions
The cover by Placebo of Running up that hill by Kate Bush is a great track as is the Cranberries version of Go your own way by Fleetwood Mac

Dave Gahan showing that he can really sing.
Gives me goose bumps this does.

I was watching a DM video yesterday and my KPop loving 14 yo said all their songs sounded the same. It's all about perspective

My 13 yo is half-Korean, but thankfully doesn't like KPop. I'm so glad about this, since having to kick one's own child out of the house would be a bit of a wrench.Korea Hammer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 10:39 am I was watching a DM video yesterday and my KPop loving 14 yo said all their songs sounded the same. Re: Great Cover Versions
Well, that's interesting WHIFC, we have something in common thwre. But as for K Pop, I love it and watch a few videoa with her most nights. Seventeen, Monsta X, NCT, Stray Kids, Ateez. I think they're super talented and the music is really interesting, different to Western pop but influenced by all kinds of different things. I also feel very positive about my daughter getting interested in Korean culture through this music.

Re: Great Cover Versions
When we first starting visting the in-laws about 12 years ago KPop was one of the few bits of Korean culture I absolutely detested, along with the disturbing popularity of plastic surgery (everything else about S.Korea I generally loved, mind). Seemed every bit as bad as EuroPop back then, and so hideouesly manufactured it reminded me of the horrors of Stock, Aitken, Waterman in the late 80s. So I was aghast when KPop went more global and even reached UK shores a few years later!
All such a shame because I did find fledgling signs of a decent, but very tiny, rock scene in Seoul which was so, so much more worthy..
I haven't followed KPop for over a decade (in fact done everything in my power to avoid it), so maybe it's improved since those days and it's simply passed me by..

Re: Great Cover Versions
Love both the original and Ty Segull's fuzz guitar rock version of the Hot Chocolate classic:
