Terrell & Gaye hadn't been paired up for that long & this was their first hit.
I believe it was filmed at Expo 1967 in Canada on the 7th of May.
Just 5 months later on the 14th of October during a concert in Virginia, the acorn-sized astrocytoma in thalamus (malignant brain tumour), that was insidiously growing in the right side of Tammi's brain, first made itself known when Tammi collapsed into Marvin's arms, on stage.
Written by (Nick) Ashford (RIP) & (Valerie) Simpson, they played it to Dusty Springfield who wanted to record it but they didn't let her as they wanted a way to get into Motown.
Interestingly at the time, most duets were recorded with both in the studio. This one however, Tammi recorded her parts first, on her own & Marvin's parts were recorded later & then mixed together.
