Very impressive stuff. What a season for the under 18s!
Marshall is already one of the most natural finishers at the club. Hopefully get just gets better and better and can get a few subs next season for the first team. Orson, Scarles too.

Matt Holland. Not quite Houghton level but got to the Prem eventually and stayed a wee while.Kermit wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 5:15 pm Obviously early doors to make a call on Perkins but also worth mentioning that there aren't many we've let go from the academy who have gone on to become regular PL starters elsewhere. In fact for "many" I could probably say "any" unless you want to go as far back as Ray Houghton.
And, yess I do know that Leon Brittan played a couple of times for Swansea when they were in the PL. But I don't count Junior Stanislas because he was given quite a few games for us before someone (Allardyce ?) decided he could move on.

Re: The kids are all right
I reckon behind the scenes the Club are well aware we're producing some talent regularly again and although losing the likes of Perkins (Ashby?), who scored Leeds equaliser saving their blushes against Cardiff, they also know there's others still coming through. And who knows, could well turn our better long term?
Scarles
Mubama
Marshall
Them 3 keep peaking my interest when watching/reading about them. Fingers crossed they make it.

I think similarly to Ngakia we didn't see Perkins as our best prospect in that position and made him a contract offer accordingly.Colours never run wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 12:15 pm I reckon behind the scenes the Club are well aware we're producing some talent regularly again and although losing the likes of Perkins (Ashby?), who scored Leeds equaliser saving their blushes against Cardiff, they also know there's others still coming through. To be fair our record in that cup has been pretty appalling for years.Westbourne Bill wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 9:47 am Must be the clubs best chance of winning the FA Youth cup in years.
I can't recall doing anything In it since the Joe Cole, Michael Carrick, Bertie Brayley days.

Not sure if a joke or serious. But here's Mubama's reaction to Sonny Perkins' goal for Leeds in the FA Cup...

What's wrong with Mubama celebrating a childhood friend's first senior goal?

Re: The kids are all right
This new RB/RWB Robinson, where did he pop up from? Maybe he's been here a while but its the first I noticed him. Looks tidy. As do most our youth teams now.
Can't wait to see more of Scarles, Marshall, Earthy, Kelly, Orford, Chesters, among others, in the future
Edit: Joined us at 6. Promoted from u18s. Nice! Born near the stadium too.

Re: The kids are all right
Something that just occurred to me when thinking about how well our kids are doing this season both collectively and individually is that the Training Ground, Training Pitches, Facilities etc haven't hindered in any way of their success on the pitch. That's not to say we couldn't always improve on it in the future, just that it's certainly not held them back at all and has allowed them to flourish.

The under-18s are away to Burnley on Sat 21Jan in the 4th round of the FA Youth Cup. K off 1pm.
Victory would put them into the quarter finals.

Re: The kids are all right
As I have said before CNR, the outside cosmetics at the training grounds are pretty poor, but the facilities, pitches, equipment etc. are very good, even top notch. It is certainly not nearly as bad as people make out. We wouldnt be able to recruit or keep players if they were.Colours never run wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 1:11 pm Something that just occurred to me when thinking about how well our kids are doing this season both collectively and individually is that the Training Ground, Training Pitches, Facilities etc haven't hindered in any way of their success on the pitch.
