Re: The kids are all right
This lists the top PL u-18 goal scorer in each of the last half a dozen seasons.
Sobering to realise that most don’t make it. Jay Stansfield might make it at the top level….another currently plays for Met Police.

Not sure you can really say that.Westbourne Bill wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 12:03 pm This lists the top PL u-18 goal scorer in each of the last half a dozen seasons.

The two most recent are still playing junior football for their clubs. The next two are playing senior football and both retained by their PL clubs (Simms has recently been recalled by Everton from his successful loan at Championship Sunderland).
It's only the earlier two who haven't made the grade...

Spot on, Cadiz. We cannot write off the players on that list yet.cadiz_hammer wrote: ↑Sun Jan 15, 2023 7:51 pm Not sure you can really say that.

Can't we enjoy the young lads doing well and dream that one or two might make the grade? I think Scarles will make it. Marshal? Much trickier to predict and he doesn't already have a first team appearance played with some confidence and ability under his belt. Hard for strikers to push through these days but I will keep everything crossed for the young fella.

Re: The kids are all right
Always worth remembering that another club’s exciting new youngster worth circa 15-20m in the market based on potential is another club’s in-house development system product just gagging for their chance to break through.
And when I say ‘chance’ I don’t mean 20 minutes in one game and then return to peer group, I mean a run of games, with regular first team training. Think Broja and the Arsenal lad.
Our potential deserves a chance much more than buying somebody else’s potential and then playing them to justify the investment gamble.
Whilst being too old appears a disaster, you cannot be too young if you score in the prem early in your career.
Come on, let’s test our own potential before others come in and nick them.

FT 1-0. Tight game, seemed to control it when Scarles went into midfield.

Re: The kids are all right
Kaduas name keeps coming up, possibly another good prospect to keep an eye on. They're all having a fantastic season.

Flashscore said Kadua got the winner. Official site says George Earthy after a strong Kadua run.

Re: The kids are all right
I thought it was Earthy, definitely wasn’t kodua. Happened so quick. Somehow ended up in a 4 or 5v1 down the right, squared across the goal and tapped in.
