In memoriam: The Playstation

Post by Up the Junction »

It's 25 years now since Sony announced their entry into the home console market...

There were more than 3,000 titles* released worldwide for the system. What are your favourite memories of the original incarnation of a console now into it's fifth generation? What games did you play to death?

I'll go with what you said and add Wipeout to the list. Played that to death and one of the few games I completed from start to finish.

Didn't know this was released on the PS... wouldn't Speedball 2 have been out by then? Obvs a big hitter at the time on Atari ST/Amiga.

Strangely the only PlayStation I never owned. Not sure why, maybe I fell out of love with gaming for a while.

Can still hear the booting up noise. It was a great console and I can see why it completely overtook the market.

Quite a few games I owned but the ones that got the most time were
Final Fantasy 7 and 9
Tony Hawks 1-3
Street Racer (round a mate’s house)
Rayman

Just added Project Eris to my Playstation Classic and added a ton of old PS1 classics and obscurities to it. It's actually a pretty decent machine once you hack it - which you wouldn't know from half baked state they released it in.
