If you read the substance he sounds like a moron. Football seems to come second to having his ego stroked.

Loved winning so much he went to Forest

A prize berk
The story goes he was promised minutes so didn’t leave in the summer. He was then set to go to Newcastle on loan towards the end of the January transfer window but it got pulled due to Greenwood.

So about 90% Man Utd’s fault by my reckoning.

The second bit and third bit well yeah.

I've been brought up by a couple of posters now on my comment and happy to have been put right.

I genuinely believed this thread had been closed down after I bumped it a few weeks ago. I find it ironic and warming that it's the big boss, UTJ himself, who's returned it from the dead. And I think it's entirely justified too. :newthumb: :muscle:

Lingard's comments continue to baffle and exasperate. This is not a case of us/me/fans in general not getting over him not choosing us - who gives a **** anymore - it's just a case of being perpetually puzzled by his decision, and his apparent denial that the choice had nothing to do with money.

The guy played the best football of his career with us and was loved by fans and management. It beggars belief that those very reasons as to why he chose another club over us.

An utterly bizarre, albeit continuously entertaining, saga :crossed:

Apparently he thought they showed him.more love and that's what convinced him to sign for them. He just wanted to feel loved. Bless him

Sadly, lots of footballers are idiots and he seems to be one. He was a decent player and fitted in really well in our team. If only we had managed to sign him, where would we be now? (Ans: at least 10 places higher up the table, in my opinion.)

His decision almost certainly cost us the Europa League trophy,

..and him a place in the World Cup squad.

I don't even think he has benefited financially, so all round - one of the biggest mistakes any player has made in the last decade.

We weren't in the EL when he turned us down.

Given the volume of posts and views this thread generates - it's closing in on 400,000 views now - I'd guess quite a few are interested in the ongoing Lingard saga.

I also note that it's led you to post one of your 543 posts in the last two-and-a-half years, Gaz. :hi-five:

I'll say it now, Lingard will be our top scorer in the Championship next season.
