R.I.P DAD.

Post by brothernero »

I Posted a while back that my dad suffered a stroke back in April an then a second in June. He lost his speech and nearly all movement in his much of his body.

We brought him home and tried every thing we could to look after him and make him comfortable but in the end was advised to place him into a care home that dealt professionally with elderly stroke victims.

Got the news earlier that he has finally given up and lost the battle and passed away.

Tuesday was the first time myself and my Mum had been able to visit him since he was moved there (Due to Covid19 restrictions)

My dad was a life long West Ham United fan and attended his first game at about the age of 4 when my Grandad took him. He could hardly move and looked so thin but I told him about how well West Ham were doing and how we were 4th and he somehow managed to with all his strength put a thumbs up.

R.I.P Dad. I love with all my heart. :crest:

Ps Mods hope this post is Ok here.

Thank you guys, means a lot. :crest:

Just dawned on me that the very last game I watched with my dad was the 2-1 loss away to Liverpool and now the first game we have after his passing s the home match v them. Hope he will be looking down and watching us get a win. Liverpool along with Man United were always the two teams my dad enjoyed beating the most.

Really sorry for your loss Brother Nero. The last few months with him in a care home and you unable to visit must have been so tough for you all. Its lovely that he passed on his love of West Ham to you, something you always shared together and will remain with you. I hope that we pull a result off for you and your dad on Sunday.
I lost my Dad a coming up to a couple of years ago and have some idea what a difficult time this will be for you.
Take care mate.

RIP to your dad mate. :(

The connection between a father and son is special, and things like loving West Ham add to the connection. I dread the day I have to say goodbye to my dad...unless I go first of course.

I’m sure you’ve got some great memories of him to go back to.
