Manchester City 2-1 West Ham Utd: match thread (27/02/21)

Post by hammers92 »

Citeh play away in the CL midweek, we have a week's rest.

Considering a point against this lot is worth three right now, why can't we do it?

My first match thread, apologies if this goes tits up, but to be honest with you, I have this weird feeling we can take anyone right now.

And it feels so weird.

Manchester City look magnificent. Pep won't let them relax against us.

We will need to be firing on all cylinders to get something. I think we were robbed in previous meeting.

Who knows?

Have to look at this one as a free hit. Assume we'll got to a back 5, especially after the way Cress struggled in the 2nd half today.

Fab
Diop Dawson Cresswell
Coufal Soucek Rice Johnson
Lingard Bowen
Antonio

Would happily see any of Fredericks, Benrahma, Lanzini start in place of some of those.

Great to see Chelsea play Man U and Leicester play Arsenal. Points being dropped all around us.

I'd almost rather they win tonight and keep thsi run going. Don't fancy being on the receiving end of a reaction to a bad result but this run haz to end at some point......

I’ve given up on predicting our results, and with the way things are panning out, long may this continue.

This lot are capable of winning the lot this season. They are also clearly the best in our league, by quite a clear margin.

Our only away defeats this season in the league have arisen at Anfield, Stamford Bridge and The Emirates.

The lads will want to make their mark in the biggest challenge they will face all season. Lingard, too, will of course love to play well there.

I will believe in a top 4 finish, if we win there - how could we not, our form would have kicked on even further than it is presently (we're joint third in terms of form over last 5 matches, with Wolves, but Chelsea and this mob are even better).

I would be of course delighted with a point; it would send out such a message to the chasing pack about our durability.

I just know, come what may, that none of our lot will let themselves, or us, down. We have no real weak link in this set up, in the main because we also have no prima donnas. Everyone orbits around Rice.

His match against Foden next weekend may turn out to be one of the highlights of the season.

Rode our luck a bit today, but I'm afraid we are due a reality check.

Just hoping out goal difference doesn't take too much of a hit.

They appear to be in full “unstoppable force” territory at the moment.

As others have said, a draw would be as good as a win, but ideally don’t let the goal difference take a beating.

Compete for as long as we can. Hope it’s a tight game towards the end.

I think Moyes will look to double up in wide areas and he will pick someone to pressure their midfield pivot - probably a 3-4-1-2 type system.

I can see Fred and Johnson starting -

Worth remembering, we were the better team in the first half at our place and were arguably denied a penalty to take it to 2-0.

Lose this, and I think we can say goodbye to the title.

Their run has to come to an end sometime... :hush:

I would go with this. Cant agree about Lanzini or Benny playing. Benny is a bit of a luxury at the moment. Runs a lot but not really effective from a defensive pov. This game we need to defend from the front. I could see Fred starting over Bowen though

Then it is time for them to meet the imovable object. No reason we cannot get a draw, we just need to learn to foul further up the field as soon as we turn over possession. We could match that part of their 'game'

A draw here would be fantastic . And I wouldn't put it past us getting it.
