A Christian nationalist state, eh? Line'em and put a bullet in the back of their head. That's what the new testament says.
Apparently school shooters are gay as well.

I guarantee he wanks off to gay porn.
Then afterwards goes outside with his AR15, shoots at a squirrel or bunny whilst screaming "Murca".

Not sure what this thread is turning into?
However, Hemant Mehta, the ‘Friendly Atheist’ tweets lots of his thoughts about white Christians but I can’t seem to find his thoughts about Islam and homosexuality. I’m sure he does and that he’s a man of conviction but I just can’t see any?

"Not sure what this thread is turning into" then goes on to post something totally irrelevant.Macca1973 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 6:36 am Not sure what this thread is turning into?

And,
Now perhaps we should get back to the subject of the thread.

Re: The Latest Mass Shooting In America
The problem is that bloody religion is so tied up in America that in any discussion it inevitably rears it's head.
I think most people on this thread would be pretty pissed off if we were to ring the police, or a mortgage advisor, or a solicitor or our MP and asked for some genuine help, and the response we were given was "Have you tried praying more?"
Kids are dying every day. It's tragic. And they're rowing with each other about hollywood, and God, and homosexuality.

MB, I didn’t start the thread on that tangent. Just like to have balance in the discussion.

I'll give you even money that this guy cries himself to sleep every night thinking about all the dicks he wished were in his mouth.

Re: The Latest Mass Shooting In America
The thread is about mass shootings in America, an overwhelmingly Christian country where gun culture and religion are intrinsically linked.
Why would anyone need to balance anything by mentioning Islam?

Re: The Latest Mass Shooting In America
Attacking someone with an unfounded and easily disproved slur about something very remotely related to the thread topic is 'balance'? Righty ho.
On topic: balance is a totally good thing, of course. As is usually the case when things become polarised, the interesting (and usually most considered) opinions come from those that cross the divide. People on the political left who've thought about it and make a case for gun ownership, and people on the right who make a case against. Those are the voices I'd listen to.
Idly contentious: I wonder what the ratios of former to latter are?

The original post I was responding to was regarding a Tweet about a Christian preachers view on homosexuality!

Re: The Latest Mass Shooting In America
Would think that was obvious? As proven, Christians aren’t the only anti-gay crazy mob. If someone wants to bring that to this thread I think it’s fair to point out that certain other religions also have nut jobs that think the same!

Didn’t read my original reply then!
Anyway enough on this, I’ve explained why I replied to the original post. For the record I’m an Atheist from an Irish Roman Catholic family. The original post wasn’t really about guns, it was a tenuous reference, really it was just another pop at ‘White Christians’.

Teacher from shooting calls the police cowards.

That was a hard read tbf. Imagine all those children having to pretend to be dead whilst the shooter stood over them for all that time. Even the ones that were lucky enough to survive are going to have severe mental health issues linked to that trauma.

77 minutes to a child is an eternity let alone in a horrific, terrifying situation like this.
I didn't realise the shooter was going between two classrooms the whole time.

He had better check all his lights every time he gets in his car, can't imagine that the local police will be kind to him if he gets pulled.sendô wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 1:15 pm Teacher from shooting calls the police cowards.

Re: The Latest Mass Shooting In America
Yeah, I'm sorry for going off track (seemingly) a little bit by posting the hate preacher. It is all related, although not clearly on the surface. There are people in this country whose ideology is as extreme as it gets, and a great many of them are the same people who are warming to the idea of another civil war because of their perceived belief of the 2nd amendment being under threat.
Here is GOP & NRA Congressman Steve Scalise comparing the conversation for tightening restrictions and background checks for gun ownership to banning airplanes after 9/11. This post isn't a direct reference to a mass shooting in the US, but it does demonstrate a reason why mass shootings in the US happen on a weekly basis. (btw, there were 2 more shootings in the last few days where 3 or more people were shot). People with a stake in keeping things the way they are modify the conversation from their platform to scare the crap out of their base. At this point in time the conversation primarily revolves around controls, and not necessarily bans. Yet The conversation about banning military grade weaponry can have equal footing after some control is exercised, even though a ban on assault rifles would help prevent mass shootings far more than stricter controls alone could.
