Backs to the wall but finally some fighting spirit from England.
A draw that will feel like a victory and at least it stops another whitewash down under.

Didn’t see it happening but well done all. There is nothing more dramatic in sport than batting out/hanging on during the last few overs of Test.

They need this resolve EVERY innings.

Blimey....small victories and all that! Will be some interesting selection discussions for Hobart with all these injuries. Wouldn't be surprised if Pope comes back with the gloves.. if Stokes can't bowl then need him as a batter. Might drop Hameed and either bump everyone up one? Woakes then comes back to take Stokes' overs

Crawley
Malan
Root
Stokes
Bairstow
Pope (wk)
Woakes
Wood
Leach
Broad
Anderson

Or maybe Bairstow to open to keep Root at 4?

Well played England. A small crumb of comfort in an absolute shitstorm of a tour.

A couple of players showing a pair of cajones........bout time too.

Just spend the last few hours catching up. Phew. Amazing how clinging on for a draw when the series is already gone can still be so exciting.

At least we stood up. After 2 great balls from Cummings I thought we had no chance. Leach did really well.

No 5 nil :scarfer:

Good to see we do still have a bit of fight in us. Hameed has to drop out and Burns come back in who was harshly dropped in the first place to be honest.

Worrying that Malan started the series well but is now going for constant single figure scores.

Pope looked a breath of fresh air behind the stumps. He can't play spin to save his life but fair play to coming in and doing a very good job as wickie.

Biggest selection problem is whether they allow Moeen Ali and Cook on the BT sofa together again...there doesn't seem to much love lost there.

Finally some balls have been shown... nowhere near a win but we'll take the moral victory in the draw.

There seems to be quite a few players who are touch and go for the last one... Buttler definitely out, Bairstow and Stokes both probably out?

I can see Hameed be dropped for the last one and Burns re-instated and Anderson out for Robinson.

If those 3 are out I can see: Burns, Crawley, Malan, Root, Pope, Billings, Woakes, Robinson, Wood, Leach, Broad

If Bairstow is fit we can assume he'll come in for Billings and if Stokes can bat he'll come in for Pope.

As a Kent supporter pleased that Crawley got a few 2nd dig, still trying to play shots when under so much pressure is good to see. Would think he'll be opening with Burns in Hobart.

Just caught up with this - what the merry f***..... green pitch, pink ball under lights and cloudy skies.. first day... bowl Root with a spread out field.

Sack the muppet now.

If it moves like it did first up when we bat we'll be lucky to make double figures.

Ironically Labuschagne and Head used their knowledge of county cricket greentops to good effect.
