He has had numerous goes at test cricket and not been consistent.

Sadly England will now see him as part of the solution based on one knock. Seeing as they will be desperate to get Pope back in the line up the solution will be to give Bairstow to gloves again.

So all you Foakes fans, I'm predicting that century has blocked his path.

Billings has been called up to the squad for the Hobart test. Would expect him to take the gloves for that one.

They could play both. Just a thought like.

Or, like I said drop Bairstow after this series.

Bonkers review from the Aussies ball was 10cm or so from the bat, not sure what they saw there.

Some lovely shots from Leach early on and then he does something stupid. If it is good enough for the batsman then the tail can be thick as well.

I get the new ball is on the way, but why do we need to bat like it is a T20? Just play properly and you'll likely score more as they might actually hit it.

Bairstow goes trying to nick one down to third man good innings and pleased for him but this should be it for him (assuming the injury keeps him out of the 5th Test)

294all out. Wrong tactics this morning, swinging the bat all over the place (for little success) what is wrong with making them work for the wickets? They will say the new ball was coming, we didn't even make it to the 80th over! Wrong attitude, wrong plan, poor as per usual.

Root’s field has been inept, starting with the first ball.

Same bowlers but Aussie aggressive field placements and we’d probably have at least 2 wickets by now.

Really poor considering we should be throwing everything at wickets and not worrying about runs, unless we’ve got a direct line to Michael Fish.

He’s such a one trick pony bowler, we make him look good. The Aussies won’t pick him again, particularly away.

If he really isnt that good then thats some piece of luck if he's managed to sneak into that side with his 'one trick'.

In order to maintain the Covid bubble, he had to borrow a Ute and drive himself from Brisbane to Sydney. At the end of the 9hr journey, he ironically tweeted something to the effect of ‘Blimey, Australia is big!’

Even worse for Foakes now Pope looks good behind the stumps.

It says something that a guy they didn't select for the first 3 tests gets a ton in each innings. Oh for that option.

Wood is immense, what you want from a guy in an England shirt. Ditto Stokes.

What happened to the ****ing rain? I think we need some because us batting all day on the 5th day isn't confidence inspiring, esp with 3 batsmen hurt....

37 minutes and first one down. Hameed goes after being dropped already. He doesn't have an answer to Boland/Cummings accuracy and it was just a matter of time.

Seriously, what made Silverwood stick with Hameed?

He looks lost.

If he plays in the 5th test Burns must be shagging the managers wife....

Malan plays a **** shot, trying to save a Test Match, give you wicket away over your dead body. Make them bowl a miracle ball, take a worldie catch, have some resolve.

Crawley goes for a well played 77. He come the walking wounded. This might fall apart very quickly.

8 wickets down and just 4 overs of the day remain.
Leach is showing his resolve of Headingly.
The field for the bowling of Lyon looks like that of a bygone era.

To be fair, Broad is doing his utmost too.
After a disastrous tour so far getting a draw will feel like a magnificent victory :crylol:

Including Lyons and wicket keeper, 10 Aussies surrounding Briad as he plays out a maiden over.
Heroic stuff.
