1954 That Man - Nappy Brown
I saw this bloke live a couple of times in the late 1980s - he was brilliant.

Re: The Secret Boomer Hop... hit-free tracks from 1945-1965
that's a long story.
I have loved 50s music since I was a little kid. One thing leads to another - I'd like, for example, Showaddywaddy and the Sex Pistols singing 3 Steps To Heaven, Somethin' Else, C'mon Everybody and it would lead to buying an Eddie Cochran album in a defunct music shop in Watney Market.
And on it would go. Read about another singer - buy a record. Started 50s clubbing in my late teens and all the obscurities that were dancefloor favourites would come out. There used to be a bloke called Rockin Rex who ran a record stall there. I bought Honey Bun on 45 (the track LC put up) from him at one of them about 35 years ago. Other places like Moondogs on East Ham High St and , I dunno if it's still going, Sounds That Swing in Camden.
Then there were record labels like Charly and Ace that specialised in that stuff - get their catalogues and buy, and they'd usually have sections for things like soul as well.
I sold many of my records in the 90s and moved to CD, but have been on the reverse journey for five/six years now and am hearing things I'd forgotten or had never heard before. I also occasionally find myself with a track on my wantlist that's been sitting on my shelf for 35 years on some LP or other.
Youtube's good as well. Just keep curiously clicking on things I've never seen before.
Discogs is great for sourcing vinyl and some of it - the stuff I like - can be really cheap and I just hear something new on a compilation etc.

Virtual cert that I've posted this before but never mind...
Another one that was a hit in the States, yet overlooked over here.
