Here's an R'n'B and Blues double

Long term Fats Domino conspirator - Dave Bartholomew - with some tilting, double-entendre laden R'n'B stroll

And this one was apparently covered by someone or something called Jethro Tull ( I honestly wouldn't have a clue what he/they sound like - bit too modern for me )...but here's the doctor spreading the boogie disease

Great thread this.

Really shows that all our heroes are just blatant rip offs of hundreds and hundreds of much lesser known trailblazers.

I mostly know Ain't She Sweet as something the Pre-Fab Four recorded with Tony Sheridan, though it was a kind of 'standard' that I was aware of growing up. The Lew Williams number was something this bloke we used to know as 'Pipe Man' used to dance to constantly. He used to smoke a Sherlock Holmes pipe ...often whilst dancing :D

Here's Mickie Most and The Gear - That's Alright - 1964.

This fella was the Simon Cowell of his day and used to be a judge on New Faces, IIRC (unless there was two of them).

As they say on Youtube - "The Rapiers brought me here".

And Blakey Records :)

I remember Mickey Most (showing my age) :)
and also Tony Hatch (who wrote the CROSSROADS theme and SUGAR & SPICE for the Searchers!)
was on that show - he always looked a smug git to me.

One from 1963.

Wanda Jackson - 1961 - Funnel of Love

Tucked away on the B side of a fairly, unremarkable C+W number.

1964 - She's Walking Away - Dickey Lee

If the Everly Brothers were a bit Mod/Beat Boom and vaguely psychedelic ??? The start of it actually reminds me of the Monkees "Stepping Stone"

1964 - Nothin Shakin - Billy Fury

Liverpool's very own Ronnie Wycherley belting out a 'beat' version of the Eddie Fontaine classic. Billy/Ron, recorded some of the primest cuts of British rock and roll in 1959/1960 and what is widely recognised as the first British 'rockabilly' LP with his own self-penned Sound of Fury album, featuring cockney picker Joe Brown on lead guitar, before becoming a very successful balladeer between 1961-1965.

:crest: related fact. The only time I ever saw Billy live was not long before his death in the early 1980s. He picked the half time raffle winner at White Hart Lane in a Spurs v West Ham derby match. :)

Double bubble from Steve Alaimo - a '59 rockabilly rumbler followed by some 1966 soul.
