Tennis 2022
Something special brewing in Paris.
Epic match at the French open on going.
Nadal v Djokovic in the fourth. Semi final
the Serb 2-1 up but the Spaniard had the break in the fourth.
Andy impressed.
Match so good the French have lifted the curfew in the stadium.

Re: Tennis 2021
The third set was spectacular
I cant stand Nadal and really like Djokovic so was delighted with that result
Djokovic is going to get to about 25 slams in the end. He is a machine

Can’t say I like either Nadal or Djokovic, but fair play to the latter for getting the W.

Men's French final is warming up. Tsitsipas was 2 sets up but 2-1 with Djokovic a break up in the fourth.

Re: Tennis 2021
The Serb wins in five. It amazes me that these blokes in their 30s with 1000s of Sets in their legs seem to have more energy than players 10+ years younger and without all those miles when it comes to these 4 hour plus matches. It must be the healthy living or maybe the Verve are wrong? (or I'm just a cynic)

Novak Djokovic ic is one of the greatest competitors in the history of all sports
He simply never knows when he is beaten and never gives up. Being two sets down is like a challenge to him.
His levels of fitness are extraordinary

As far as Nadal & Djokovic are concerned, The Verve have it spot on.wolf359 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 6:26 pm The Serb wins in five. Re: Tennis 2021
Djokovic is a machine no doubt about it. Don’t know why but I just can’t warm to him though. He will equal Nadal and Federer’s Grand Slam titles when he wins Wimbledon next month and should go on to win at least another 4 Slams. He’s a great athlete and a phenomenal match player, just a bit dull.

Probably the most under appreciated sportsman of this, or any, generation is Djokovic
Probably the greatest player of all time but doesn't get much acclaim because of Federer and Nadal

Which shows just how good Andy Murray is, to have finished year end number one and win a few grand slams during such a strong era.Crouchend_Hammer wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 10:00 pm Probably the most under appreciated sportsman of this, or any, generation is Djokovic

Re: Tennis 2021
Agreed. Someone on here a few years back said he'd eclipse both of them for GS titles and I said no way, he doesn't have enough time. Doesn't look to be struggling for fitness does he?Crouchend_Hammer wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 10:00 pm Probably the most under appreciated sportsman of this, or any, generation is Djokovic

I am changing that view now. He might even be there by the end of the year.
The best ever.
13 of Nadal's 20 coming at RG and Federer won loads of his GS titles against people like Andy Roddick (and he didn't face Nadal in his FO win).
Like Fed a lot but in a game of Top Trumps, he doesn't really outscore Djokovic in too many areas.
Murray did brilliantly well to get anywhere near them to be fair especially given his physical fragility.

I would love to know exactly how much juicing went on between the big four over all those years when they were at their peak.

Re: Tennis 2021
Hard to say
Those blood bags destroyed by the Spanish would have perhaps helped with the answer

Nope, me too, horrible to watch, I love the guy, got a lot of respect for him and what he's achieved, devastating how he's been blighted by injuries that have effectively ended his career. Come on Andy, dig deep mate!

Re: Tennis 2021
Just your common or garden variety of the Andy Murray Wimbledon Rollercoaster Journey.
Watching him lose 7 games in a row from 5-0 to 5-7, I could only see him losing in 5 sets.
But Murray is nothing if not brave and deep he dug. Of course he won’t win, in truth he’ll be lucky to last the week, but I’ll enjoy watching Murray at Wimbledon for the first time in 4 years for as long as possible.

Agree with all of that CRS.Chicken Run Supreme wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 10:16 pm Just your common or garden variety of the Andy Murray Wimbledon Rollercoaster Journey.

The bloke's so single minded. That injury has robbed both him and us UK tennis fans of .. well, who knows what. Like you, I'm going to soak up every
barmy stressful minute of whatever he's got left in the game .

The highlight of day one was the applause for the lady that developed the AZ vaccine, particularly as it was on the same court that the anti-vax, quack-loving prick was playing on.

Re: Tennis 2021
Every year, when Wimbledon comes around, my mind returns to a time in the Mid 70's, when going out with a girlfriend . We had been out and went back to her folks place for afternoon tea. Her mum was sitting down in her living room watching a match and after about ten minutes, her mum said in a very posh accent ',Oh I hate these ****ing tennis players. I was shocked, even scandalized, but still burst out laughing, I used language like this all the time, but I guess it was because of her very posh accent and her very spacious house and because it was so entirely unexpected, that made it especially funny
