This country goes from "omg, I'm dying from the heat" to, "I'm f*cking freezing because I forget to take me hoody with me", just within 24 hours..

It was an absolutely cracking storm that. A massive cherry tree right next to the driveway got struck by lightening

On the plus side, my boy in all of his 10 and a bit years, has never actually experienced a thunder and lightening storm before, (obviously we've had them, but he's slept through them) and he was woken up when the tree was hit - so I took him to our room which is at the back of the house, sat him on the edge of the bed and opened the curtains and his little face was in awe. A right special moment that was.

My day today will be going out the front to clear up around 10000 cherries, leaves, and bits of broken branches from the top of our cars and the driveway...

Having an Astraphobic wife because she had it embedded in her at an early age that storms are very bad and has been traumatised ever since.

Everytime we are near one or there is the smallest chance we will be the panic attacks start and I have to go into councelling mode.

No doubt the result of global warming, I've never known wind to reach the levels it has this year.

As a bit of a gardener (see Grow thread) checking the wind speeds and associated gusts is a daily thing. I can probably count on two hands the number of days you could consider 'still' in 2022 (or with no or barely any breeze).

From a long term perspective, should this pattern continue, the risk of increasing numbers of failing crops as a result must be a serious concern - not just for owners of gardens and smallholdings but on a commercial scale too.

The weather used to be fairly accurate for 3 or 4 days. Now it's hit or miss and rain can bubble up from nowhere even if bbc shows no rain. Even rain predictor app doesn't show rain if it literally bubbles up from nowhere.

If we get a few warm days we know it will soon turn to rain and go cold and windy. It must be global warming.

37 today, then at least 7 solid days of 39/40 rising to 42 at the weekend. I'm dreading the next 7 -10 days (no end in sight as yet, the forecasts don't go any further).
