Re: The weather
This country goes from "omg, I'm dying from the heat" to, "I'm f*cking freezing because I forget to take me hoody with me", just within 24 hours..Arnold Layne wrote: ↑Sat Jun 18, 2022 10:55 pm Cold, pissing down mud rain and I put the summer duvet on!

Re: The weather
It was an absolutely cracking storm that. A massive cherry tree right next to the driveway got struck by lighteningkenthammer wrote: ↑Sat Jun 18, 2022 11:31 pm Thunder lightning the full works here in Kent
And now Sky gone down
On the plus side, my boy in all of his 10 and a bit years, has never actually experienced a thunder and lightening storm before, (obviously we've had them, but he's slept through them) and he was woken up when the tree was hit - so I took him to our room which is at the back of the house, sat him on the edge of the bed and opened the curtains and his little face was in awe. A right special moment that was.
My day today will be going out the front to clear up around 10000 cherries, leaves, and bits of broken branches from the top of our cars and the driveway...

Re: The weather
Good to bed them in early DL.
Having an Astraphobic wife because she had it embedded in her at an early age that storms are very bad and has been traumatised ever since.
Everytime we are near one or there is the smallest chance we will be the panic attacks start and I have to go into councelling mode.

Re: The weather
No doubt the result of global warming, I've never known wind to reach the levels it has this year.
As a bit of a gardener (see Grow thread) checking the wind speeds and associated gusts is a daily thing. I can probably count on two hands the number of days you could consider 'still' in 2022 (or with no or barely any breeze).
From a long term perspective, should this pattern continue, the risk of increasing numbers of failing crops as a result must be a serious concern - not just for owners of gardens and smallholdings but on a commercial scale too.

Re: The weather
The weather used to be fairly accurate for 3 or 4 days. Now it's hit or miss and rain can bubble up from nowhere even if bbc shows no rain. Even rain predictor app doesn't show rain if it literally bubbles up from nowhere.
If we get a few warm days we know it will soon turn to rain and go cold and windy. It must be global warming.

Keep the wood mate and use it on the BBQ, great flavour from cherry trees.-DL- wrote: ↑Sun Jun 19, 2022 7:05 am It was an absolutely cracking storm that. A massive cherry tree right next to the driveway got struck by lightening

Re: The weather
Finally cracked and used the AC overnight. Blissful sleep, only spoiled by occasionally waking up in sheer terror over what it was costing me to run.

Re: The weather
37 today, then at least 7 solid days of 39/40 rising to 42 at the weekend. I'm dreading the next 7 -10 days (no end in sight as yet, the forecasts don't go any further).
Temperature in my flat is currently 31 and rising. Wooden window shutters closed, no daylight at all coming in....

Re: The weather
Meteorologists at work think there is a chance it could reach 40 degrees in the UK for the first time next week.

Re: The weather
I'm not going to complain. I love the nice weather. I'm determined not to have an Ice cold lager until Thursday as I have a long weekend off.
