Absolutely awful scenes from Wennington. As one fella on the news said, it was like a scene from the blitz. Devastating.

The fire service don't yet know the cause but locals are saying someone was having a fire in their back garden. If true then ****ing idiot doesn't quite cut it.

Where the heck is Wennington, I've never heard of it
? The Beeb, keep banging on it is in East London, therefore, I should know it. I don't think it can be anywhere near Upton Park, in which case, I definitely would, besides if looks a bit too bucolic for that

Sandwiched between Rainham and Aveley. But that area is countryside running north to Upminster. It's featureless, but still countryside.

Oh! That would explain it. So it is quite deep into Essex then. Rainham, most definitely is in Essex. It is certainly not, East London

It's in the London Borough of Havering, thus is officially classed as East London. If Rainham was definitely in Essex, it would be Essex Police, Essex Fire and Rescue Service, and East of England Ambulance Service. As it's a Metropolitan Police, LFB, and LAS area, in a London Borough, as well as the public transport coming under the Transport for London area, I think we can safely confirm, it is now London - as is West Ham, which once was The County Borough of West Ham, which was in Essex, but instead, was amalgamated with East Ham which was also part of the County of Essex, and thus became 'New Ham', abridged to Newham.

So to reiterate - Rainham is not in Essex any longer, despite your assertions.

spot on DL.

infact the fire broke out right next to wennington fire station which is listed on the LFB website as in havering so very very much a london borough

https://www.london-fire.gov.uk/community/havering/

we know of two (friend of friends) who have lost everything in the fires, mrs was taking old kids clothes to them last night so their 1 year old had something to wear, its awful.

this is where the fire is

Image

this is hornchurch country park last night that had to be let burn because they couldnt spare the fire fighters

Image

if I can figure out how to upload video I got video of the smoke on my drive home yesterday the mrs filmed it.. was mad.

edit

just found the update from the LFB..

"Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters tackled a fire on The Green in Wennington.

An area of around 40 hectares of grassland, farm buildings, houses and garages on The Green and Kent View were affected. Two detached houses, two semi-detached houses, two rows of terraced houses, two outbuildings, six single-storey garages, 12 stables and five cars were destroyed by the blaze. Another detached property was badly damaged.

Almost 90 surrounding properties were evacuated and there were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 19 calls to the blaze.

The Brigade was called at 1306 and the fire was under control by 2147. Fire crews from Dagenham, Deptford, Bethnal Green, Woodford, Lee Green, Forest Hill and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation."

Just been on a run through Hornchurch Country Park and there's a little bit of fire damage around the cafe but it could have been a lot worse, I would think a couple of paths acted as a natural fire break.

I've got a friend who firefights in Wembley and he said there was an arsonist just walking down a street setting fire to bins and bushes yesterday. The heat does things to people.

Another in Thames Valley area said they spent much of the last two days getting bodies out of rivers and lakes.

I am actually finding it quite worrying the amount of comments on news articles on Social Media that people are making claiming the fires were started deliberately to fit the global warming narrative, and that these extreme temperatures world wide are a geo-engineering conspiracy - and the comments are usually followed up at the end with comments about how people were sucked in to inject an experimental poison jab for a virus that didn't exist.

It's not even just one or two people saying it - there are ****ing loads.

How do people actually come to these conclusions, and not only that, believe them to such an extent, that they think they are the clever ones and it's everyone else that's stupid and having the wool pulled over their eyes?

It's staggering.
