Meanwhile on the west coast (probably should be placed under a 'Climate' thread rather than weather), South Lake Tahoe is in the path of the Caldor fire. Sierra at Tahoe Ski resort buildings were saved in part by blasting the buildings with snow making equipment.

Thus far the large fires have stayed away from the Bay Area, but we are entering the part of the season where Sonoma and Napa are at risk.

Not intending to make light of hurricane Ida here. The devastation has been mind boggling. Still, I did find this amusing.

The flooding between Pennsylvania and New York is a bit mental.

They thought the storm had blown itself out down south then next thing they know their car is floating away.

That's a downer.

Only seems like a month ago when everyone in Blighty was complaining about the 30+C heat.

It's changed here too. We're very lucky with the weather here but there's a massive marine layer at the beach every day so you rarely see sunsets anymore. About one hour before sundown the sun vanishes behind this massive white wall of thick cloud. Last night I told my Missus we were going to watch sunset & I ended up being dragged around Walmart.

One of my favourite weeks of the year in the UK was Halloween to Guy Fawkes Night. Not too cold during the day but nice chilly nights.

The smell of burning cars, I mean bonfires, spooky stories, bangers on a bonfire and pretending I didn't hurt my wrist on the punching bag machine at the fair. Plus the fireworks. We used to chase the punks over Charlton Park with fireworks. Happy days.

17C here & women are wearing their lovely coats & knee length boots to protect against the cold.

Back up to 25C by Sunday so short shorts & halter tops it is. And that's just what I'll be wearing.

Here in the UK, Lorry drivers would be driving bare chested in temperatures like that
