Re: The next gig you're going to
On all these shows, we will be playing a much longer set than usual – 1hr 45 timings.
Expect new songs from SONANCY of course, a smattering of previous lp tracks and the odd greatest hit.
The visuals will be as intense as the videos and hopefully the sound will be immersive.
We’re really looking forward to finally getting out on the road and seeing as many of you as we can.
We will do all we can to make it a night to remember for you.

Given your username, I assumed that you would be at the Royal Albert Hall tonight to see Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets. That’s where I am going.Arnold Layne wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 8:55 am Going to see The Underfloor Heating at the Tiger’s Corey tonight.

Rod Stewart
The Colosseum At Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. 20th May.
Not really a favourite of mine, but we've never seen a gig in LV so why not.

Re: The next gig you're going to
Last night was my first proper gig since Feb 2020 - Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets at the Royal Albert Hall.
And it was... fairly disappointing, to be honest. To me, 'Floyd always had 3 eras (before they utterly jumped the shark with The Wall)- the whimsical Syd stuff, the figured-out-wtf-they-were-doing era which is arguably starts with DSotM, but a case could be made for the two albums previously, and a distinctly dubious interval between those, where a lot of the material was pretty self-indulgent warbling. So, when this band decide that they're mostly going to mine that middle section, it always has the possibility of disappearing up its own arse, and for unfortunately large swathes of the show, that is indeed what happened.
They started off OK, with 3 decent songs, then took a sharp turn into a ditch with a selection from Atom Heart Mother, which, even in my most rabid 'Floyd collector era, I though was utter crap, and which has definitely not improved by age; they then played the absoltely execrable Vegetable Man, which is something recovered from their archives, that had never previously made it onto record, and for damn good reason. Had a bit of a return to OK/meh until the interval then came back and proceeded to vary between musical masturbation of some of Floyd's larger excesses, or generally slaughtering some of the better songs (See Emily Play, in particular).
My main takeaways: (1) I'm not doing that again - £50/ticket and 2 year wait, for a big letdown - no thanks. (2) Gary Kemp is a surprisingly good guitarist, but his vocals were ****ing awful. (3) that I've avoided that middle period Floyd for decades for a damn good reason.
Next up - Phil Campbell and the b*stard Sons play Motorhead, and I'm hoping they make a bloody sight better job of it.

Ah ballsacks. Got tickets to Low playing in a little church on Thursday, but obviously there's something far far more important happening on Thursday.

Yeah, I feel you. I've got tickets to take my youngest to the Roundhouse to see Mitski same day, and to make matters worse I've got tickets for Kristin Hersh, basically my musical hero, next Thursday, so missing both games. Don't think I've missed two games in the last 5 years before now.Monkeybubbles wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 9:38 am Ah ballsacks. I pretended for about five seconds that I was struggling to decide before the ever fragrant Mrs Monkeybubbles said "oh alright, I'll find someone else to go with".Korea Hammer wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 5:38 pm Yeah, I feel you. The Len Price 3 at the 100 Club May 27

The Kristin Hersh Electric Trio were brilliant, even better than last time I saw them.
