Betway Cup champions, you’ll never sing that
Good to have a response to the inevitable "Champions of Europe..." song from Chelsea :newthumb:

On a more serious note - that is a very good talented side who we made to look like Fulham of last year.

Stand out performers

Fornals and Benrahma
Closely followed by Yarmo, Soucek and Coufal
Solid performances from Rice, Dawson and Diop
Cresswell still a bit suspect
Coming on Johnson did well, Fred did very well on the right and should be the right wing back if needed.

Antonio looked a little off the pace and up to his goal played like a pub player.

Solid performance and shows we do have a little strength in depth, but we still need to addd 3 quality players to that squad.

Thought Benrahma was excellent, and Coventry and Johnson were very good when he came on. Fornals was lost at left wing back and was much better when he moved into Midfield proper.

Fornals was all over the place today - exceptional.

Nothing to complain about whatsoever. Very professional performance.

What I found most pleasing was even the subs that came on played well and reminded the manager they have something to offer.

Benrahma the pick of the bunch. I’m going to sound like Sully, but if he brings that form into the new season “he’ll be like a new signing.”

Only saw the second half. We looked pretty sharp. There was a lot of tight and tidy interplay. Decent run out for both sides. No apparent injuries. It was good for the squad to get practice against a very good tournament side. Strength to strength. Now bring in some reinforcements so our team can do it’s work properly.

So I feel very positive having watched that, but, as if we didn’t know already, the few minutes that Dawson was down highlighted the need for another CB, and some lacklustre finishing when Antonio was off, highlighted the need for a second striker.

A couple of decent signings, maybe three, that’s all we need. The clock is ticking down fast though.

Don’t leave Nobes out for mention. His passing was excellent. There was a passage of play deep in our half where he and a few others tiki takaed their way out of trouble and initiated a break. The old man’s still got his chops.

We actually have an excellent team, just not enough numbers. Add 2/3 new players and I think we’re set, along with some promising youth players.

Can you not just screen print the bar code on your phone and present that?
I may have asked this before
Surely they don't expect any everyone to print their own tickets?
So answering my own question as regards tickets.
Firstly you don't have to download anything to a digital wallet. Have no idea why they are telling you to do that.
Secondly, if you have a smartphone you don't need to print your tickets, just screen print the barcode on the pdf and it works at the turnstiles.
I have no idea why the club are encouraging people to do either of the above.
The majority today seem to have printouts with them.
All this does is take away the club responsibility of printing them out and sending through the post.

dear oh dear - leave out the rest of the pedestrian like performance and negative passing ... Coventry should be on the field a long way before he steps foot on the pitch.

I agree, for the upcoming season Coventry should come on before Mark. I disagree re: Noble’s passing today.aA bit harsh,IMO. He got the ball forward nicely multiple times. I remember one ball back, there were probably more, but all in all he played well. But Coventry should get more meaningful time on the pitch this season. Agree with that.

Wonderful performance but we have to remember:

1. We’re ahead of them in our preparations
2. They are quite literally the perfect side (playing style) for our system to play against

This was a cracking win, good team showing, and many good individual efforts…but it doesn’t mask the fault that even assuming that we need back up at striker, at the wing, ideally in midfield (but slightly less so), at CB and depending on how Masuaku is going to be fitness wise at LB too. A few injuries and we are extremely bare bones and will have lots of tired players

Even I have to agree he did well today. They all looked comfortable on the ball, even Diop.
