Our first goal was very impressive.

Random ball deflected into the box, Benny knew where to place it and Micky knew where to run to to receive it.

He'd be useful to have around still, for the last half hour or so of a game when we're chasing a goal.
Agree, just said similar in the transfer thread. Thought he did okay yesterday for periods when we moved the ball forward. It’s just the going backwards bit. 👍

It was a good day out. Nice to be back at the stadium after so long. Atmosphere was really relaxed. It did feel like the summer holidays. There was even a giant inflatable football bouncing around the stands. Sendo Jr #1 had a great day and wants to go back. He thinks West Ham win all the time.

We started slow but seemed to grow into the game midway through the first half. I'm not sure Atalanta really viewed this friendly the same way we did. They're a week behind in their pre-season prep and seemed to just use it for fitness. They didn't seem to offer a lot at all, especially given they came third in Serie A last season and are one of the top scoring teams in Europe, not even registering a shot on target.

Benrahma was the best player for us. He's got a real look about him like he's going to step up this season. Fingers crossed.

I was pleasantly surprised by Coventry. His passing and movement was excellent. He's not very physical and against a team that would press and compete harder he might struggle but he didn't look out of his depth. Clearly Atalanta were not remotely match-fit but it was good to see us passing so well. Diop still looks a bit rash and they never got behind us, but defensively we looked sound.

The stadium only looked about half full. Lower tiers fairly full up but upper tiers mostly empty. I'd be amazed if it was over 35,000.

Any idea where Masuaku and Lanzini were yesterday? Are they fit for Newcastle?

Firstly you don't have to download anything to a digital wallet. Have no idea why they are telling you to do that.
Secondly, if you have a smartphone you don't need to print your tickets, just screen print the barcode on the pdf and it works at the turnstiles.
I have no idea why the club are encouraging people to do either of the above.
The majority today seem to have printouts with them.
All this does is take away the club responsibility of printing them out and sending through the post.
Thanks Mushy, so essentially, the QR code has replaced the season ticket card?

As long as you have a screen shot of the QR code, you walk straight in without having to do any other checks or proof if ID etc??

Considering Masuaku hasn't seen any minutes in the first team during pre season, I'd imagine he is still some way off full fitness. Good to see him feature in the U23s though, he can't be far off.

Lanzini apparently picked up a minor knock in training but is expected to be fine.

Ogbonna is training and is also expected (hopeful) of making the trip to Newcastle.

Those three players fully fit make a big difference to our first choice match day squad.

Yes, QR code or bar code.
Am not certain if you will just get the one for the entire season or if they will issue them on a match by match basis.
The latter seems like a chaotic idea to me.
No other checks either apart from usual security bag and pocket check.
