✍ Welcome Alphonse Areola
Is this the quickest we have ever signed a player after having a medical!?

I wish him nothing but the breast, I mean best!

Re: Alphonse Areola
Welcome. Hopefully our keeper for next 8+ years, it’s about time we had some stability there.
Very very sensible and very very good singing. We’ve sorted a position before it became a real issue.

Re: Alphonse Areola
Awesome signing. A top class Goalkeeper and likely to be our number one for the next 5+ years providing he isn't poached.
Can't be anything but delighted!

Re: Alphonse Areola
Was really impressed with him last season, even in a sinking Fulham ship. Hopefully we've just solved our post-Fabianski keeper question proactively.

Re: Alphonse Areola
Very unlike us to be that forward thinking for a position we have covered in aging players.

Re: Alphonse Areola
Momentarily wondered if he was our first non-English Ligue 1 and/or World Cup winner before remembering that Bernard Lama ticked both of those boxes...

Re: Alphonse Areola
I'm overchuffed with this signing.
He looked excellent for Fulham last season and rightly won their player of the year award. He's got experience, has won trophies, yet at 28 has plenty ahead of him. It's also good that he isn't there to just back up Fabianski a la Randolph, but will provide competition for places.

Re: Alphonse Areola
Very harsh on Fabianski but I think Areola goes straight in at No.1.
Great problem to have mind you.

Re: Alphonse Areola
I think he is a great signing, but I will feel like an absolute tit if it all goes south. What I mean to say is that I hope he's not a .........bust.

Re: Alphonse Areola
Whoever looks the best in training and matches gets to play, basically whichever is best.
Play your best players! Simple stuff I think.

Welcome that man. As a club we have developed and witnessed some of the best keepers in Britain. Your turn to shine!

Re: Alphonse Areola
This has happened so quickly, I thought this was going to be the dreaded early thread start before it was confirmed....
More than pleased with this signing.
3 very able keepers on our books and David Martin. As Martin has just signed a new deal, I can only see Randolph going.

Re: Alphonse Areola
Great signing who has been trusted by the likes of PSG and Real Madrid. He is personally well decorated, and his year at Fulham has given us a real-time view of his abilities, and how he copes in an environment when those in front of him aren't always on the front foot. I cant help but feel that it will be like a Jussi-Adrian situation where Jussi had performed well enough to maintain the shirt, but eventually Adrian was always going to take control of the shirt, and he did. I expect Areola may start out as second in command. However, I dont know Moyes' mind, so he may well be joining to start immediately.
