It's playing here as well on an old 72mm film/screen. I really should go see it. It's such a different experience. Saw Lawrence of Arabia at that theater on 72 mm a few years ago, and I swear I was near tears a few times. It was like a giant moving painting.

Caught The Batman movie on the weekend. Did quite enjoy it as it's very hardboiled in theme, and Paul Dano's performance as the Riddler is off the chart psycho. My God it's long though.

Watched The Batman too. Agree, it felt epically long. Dune at just 20 minutes shorter did not seem as densely packed. It isn't necessarily a criticism, but it is a challenging watch requiring the viewer to commit a fair bit of concentration. The film's mood reminds me of Seven and Bladerunner and is unrelenting. I enjoyed it but would need to think twice about settling down to watch it when it is available for home viewing as I would need to be in the right mood for quite a demanding film.

Batman also. Agree on all that. We saw a 9:45 pm showing because my daughter was pushing hard for it. at 12:30 am I was annoyed with the film. Didn't need that extra half hr. And do not stay for the extra credit scene unless you want to be thoroughly annoyed.

I know exactly what you mean pete. I saw Lawrence of Arabia on the big screen a few years ago at the National Film Theatre on the South Bank and it blew me away. It had long since been one of my favourite movies of all time, but to see it in the format it was intended for, was just a joy to behold.
Awe inspiring.

Went to Frankie & Benny's after for something to eat. That was a massive pile of steaming dogshit too and they charged £45 for the privilege too.

Saw The Batman in 4dx.

I liked it, was very good. I thought Robat Battinbat was a good Batman.

Bloody hell though, I was bruised when it was over!

Probably too long though, could have been a bit shorter.

Actually, I must share this one with you guys, except it concerns the theatre and not the cinema. A long time ago, I met a bird, didn't know her long, but so wanted to go out with her. One of her interests was plays and the theatre, so I was pretty much prepared to go along with anything she wanted to do. So, she said, she had two tickets to see some God awful, boring old crap at some theatre, forget which one now, but it was in the West End somewhere and it was painful, I couldn't wait for if it to end and so, since it was dark in the theatre, I thought f*** this and decided to close my eyes and nod off and I did. At the end, she nudged me and asked me, what I thought of the play? Waking with a start, I said, Oh.. erm, err oh that, well yeah, it was good wasn't it. ? 0She said- did I know what it was about so, being a bit stuck for answer, I said, well yeah er.. it was about this bloke weren't it? She said you bloody well fell asleep didn't you ?, so I I had to say. Well look... you should be flattered because if it were rubbish, I would have to stay awake to see if it improves, but since it was good, you know it is good and you can confidently immerse yourself in the knowledge it is good and lose yourself in your own thoughts. That evening was the end of a very brief, and not very beautiful relationship, realising very quickly, we had f*** all in common

We went the pictures a few weeks back. I bought a couple of bags of popcorn. The bloke behind the counter wouldn't accept £50 note, so I paid with two £20 and a £10.

Took the kid to see Sonic the Hedgehog 2. A cinematic masterpiece,Jim Carrey at his best and Idris Elba turns in a great performance as Knuckles.

I'm taking my son to see this at the weekend. It'll probably be the first time I've been to the cinema in at least 5 years.

Not been yet, but just booked my ticket for a morning showing of the new Dr Strange - hoping it will be like the last couple of (pre-covid) blockbusters, and be about 6 people in there

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

Was a lot better than I thought it would be, I highly recommend it.

Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal were brilliant.
