Don't be silly, the people that always moan it's a closed shop don't want to do Newcastle away, Wolves away on a cold snowy Tuesday night, or Villa away on a Monday night.... They want to go to Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Palace and Brentford away. It's not fair that these people can't get to these London games without going to games like Stoke away where it pisses down all day then floodlights fail and you sit on a bus with the old bill for an hour and watch some lads who have brought a case of beer attemping to down it it all as they're told the game is back on.

Anyway I'll be in Newcastle next week... it's one of the best away trips you can do as well!

A friend called up couple days ago and was told 500 tickets were left.

Pretty embarrassing first away game of the season

Could that be maybe down to Covid and people not feeling personally ready to mix that close? My mate goes up there every year and is still being really cautious.

Agree with the original point though, perfect opportunity if you did want to pick up a point.

good luck to the people who can visit regular away games . :newthumb:
its a nice position to be in when you factor in money and flexibility with work commitments etc
id love to be in a position to have the available time and money .
im guessing theres a few self employed/semi retired fans mixed in amongst that .

Nah we usually struggle to sell out Newcastle away these days

With our so called large fan base would like to have thought we could easily sell out 3k for the opening game

And with a kick off time which means you can do a day return on the train.

Yup, 2pm is a great result. 0930 out, 1800 back to London.

Gone are those days when we'd tear up the city all weekend :crylol:

£200 for the day all in though. Pricey business doing all the games - reckon it costs me over £3k.

I saw the other day that as an AST you can forfeit up to 3 away games a season and not lose it. That's news to me and a sensible move - congrats to the ISC ticketing group if it came out of there.

Can't wait myself! :scarfer:

Shocked we've still got 500 still to sell with it being first game back and the train situation back to London. Many going up and staying overnight on the Saturday?

I get the first game back element but it's still a trek on a Sunday in August.

I'm not surprised if I'm honest.

People who can afford to and don't have the responsibility some do getting all high and mighty about away tickets. Don't suit you fella.

Honestly, so many people on this forum who think they're a class above those who don't get to every home and away game.

Fwiw just because Newcastle has gone to GS doesn't mean its not a closed shop. My mate has just got a Season Ticket and will do all the games he can possibly do, how many points do you think he'll have by the end of the season? I'd say 6 maximum (Newcastle, maybe a couple more midweek northern aways/**** kick off times and a few home cup games) still getting him nowhere near the amount needed for the London games next season.

I'm not sure what the answer is but to suggest just because 2/3 aways max a season go to GS makes it "not a closed shop" isn't right.

I got an AST last season after a wait of 3 years on the waiting list. There was no waiting list (well, on the single occasion I got one) when we were at the Boleyn.

Noticed my daughters ticket was charged at £30 not £17 so maybe worth checking if you are on the AST scheme.

Drove back from Edinburgh yesterday and traffic was extremely heavy on the A1 and a fair amount of roadworks around Newcastle so worth factoring in to journey times.
