Was talking to someone ITK last night. Apparently he has knees of an "80 year old" and we'll be lucky to get another full season out of him after this one.Aztec Hammer wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 11:12 pm He’s definitely degeneratively crocked though, isn’t he?

Do his previous clubs fan's say similar things about him re running style etc? Might be that's just the way he's built?

Re: ✍ Kurt Zouma
What I find more baffling is we kind of heard of the knee problems around the time he just had his medical here, and yet we still decided to sign him.
Going forward it’s imperative we have fit, robust centre halves on our books. We had our warning signs last season with Oggy’s long term injury and Zouma’s on-off injury struggles, and still crazily went into this season with the pair of them.
We at least attempted to start this in the summer with Aguerd and Kehrer. But we will need 1-2 more in the next couple of windows when Dawson and Oggy inevitably leave.
If you sign a robust centre half and then he picks up an injury, as was the case with Aguerd, it’s just unlucky. Sadly these things can happen. But if you sign any player with previous injury problems, or shows issues in his medical and still go ahead with the signing, you can’t then complain when the player constantly picks up injuries after you’ve signed them. It was our choice to ignore the warning signs.

He must have a case of the Ledley Kings and Paul McGraths
Both of those played with ****ed up knees but couldn't train or walk much between games

Re: ✍ Kurt Zouma
Thing is for all his knee issues he is our best defender !
I would like us to get a CB in january especially if dawson goes. I quite like salisu at southampton. young fit fast , he would surely be happy to join us for around 25m ?

With Aguerd returning (expected to be on the squad tonight) I’d say there is zero chance we sign another centre back in January.hammerman11 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 8:22 am Thing is for all his knee issues he is our best defender !

I expect that will leave us needing to sign two new CBs in the summer with Kehrer moving to RB and both Dawson/Oggy leaving.

Re: ✍ Kurt Zouma
For £30M, with his level of experience, he is a decent signing.
He's been playing around 2000 min of Prem football for many years. That is decent.
We also play with a lower press, so not the amount of running for our centrehalves.
A reason Dawson has been better for us, than expected.
Kehrer, Aguerd, Zouma should be enough for most of the season.
Ogbonna or Dawson as an emergency reserve, or one of the more talented lads coming up.
If we play with two centrahalves, that should be more than good.

Is he really?Cornelius Beal wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 10:48 am Yes, Ben is related to Ledley King and Paul Parker. Good pedigree.
Someone should tell BT Sport about this.

I think it’s more the case of Moyes believing it was worth the risk. I don’t see how a PL team misses that.ageing hammer wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 2:57 pm And of course our medical team didn't pick this up when we signed him

Was it David Sullivan, confirming he also doesn’t have any ligaments in his knees..westham,eggyandchips wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 6:39 am Was talking to someone ITK last night. Apparently he has knees of an "80 year old" and we'll be lucky to get another full season out of him after this one.

Whatever Zoumas knees condition are it's certainly not effecting the way he consistently plays well for us for us both last season and now this one. He's been an excellent signing and look forward to many more appearances to come in a West Ham shirt.

Re: ✍ Kurt Zouma
Mmm….the obvious retort is: yeah, but could you play half as well when you were forty?
It’s not the running around aged 80 that’s the problem! It’s remembering why you are running around at age 80? And then finding a soft stopping spot with easy access to get back up, in say ….. 30 minutes…..or how ever long it takes to remember where you put your stick.
Trust me, all ‘later life’ sport is best played in your head and in your memory. It’s what enables you to educate the young regarding how to do it.
I could have been a contender…..I just cannot remember at what?
