Going forward it’s imperative we have fit, robust centre halves on our books. We had our warning signs last season with Oggy’s long term injury and Zouma’s on-off injury struggles, and still crazily went into this season with the pair of them.
We at least attempted to start this in the summer with Aguerd and Kehrer. But we will need 1-2 more in the next couple of windows when Dawson and Oggy inevitably leave.
If you sign a robust centre half and then he picks up an injury, as was the case with Aguerd, it’s just unlucky. Sadly these things can happen. But if you sign any player with previous injury problems, or shows issues in his medical and still go ahead with the signing, you can’t then complain when the player constantly picks up injuries after you’ve signed them. It was our choice to ignore the warning signs.
